During the close season, the Übersreik Unicorns have been exceptionally busy, seeing no less than thirteen players enter or exit The Tin Spur. Four players have been traded in, two have been picked in Draft XV, one joined as a compensatory pick, three players were traded out, and three have been released.
After a moderately successful debut season, Coach Wilson and his backroom staff have made major moves to improve the franchise's roster. Hopes are high that experienced players will compensate for Wilson's inexperience and the tactical flaws which exposed his side in the middle of the previous season.
INCOMING SIGNINGS
Terron Reinhardt, Dane Morrow, and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside pose for the press.
The headline signing may well be Dietmar Althoff Medal holder
Dane Morrow from the Carcasonne Eagles. The ball-carrying brute has played 114 games in the DLE and scored 42 touchdowns and causing 13 casualties. The Ostlander had previously turned out for Kemperbad Knights and Wolfsburg Wolfskins. The Eagles received the Unicorns first round draft pick.
Johnathan Hankins yanks Fools Point Rangers' Jay Teague's shoulder from its socket.
Another legend of the league is ogre
Johnathan Hankins, who played 179 matches for the Manticores in both Muckenhof and Aarnau over more than 10 seasons. He recorded an incredible 67 casualties in that time. The arrival of this legendary player was part of a surprise trade that saw Unicorns legend, Barry Gryson, move to Doomkeep, his fifth club.
Off the back of an appearance in Superbowl XIV against the Irrana Avalanches, Aldente Scimitars catcher
J.J. Arcega-Whiteside has moved to the Reikland. Strangely under-utilised by the Tilean side, J.J. scored just one touchdown in 18 matches. Under Coach Wilson, he will hope to see more action.
Robert Enthurger also joined from the Knights after two solid seasons. 'The Hurt' was a round 1 pick in season XIII and wrought 5 casualties in 35 games.
Dieter Blätter celebrates before going pro.
Three new recruits are blitzer
Dieter Blätter and linemen
Terron Reinhardt and number 1 pick
Cleophus Ferrell. 'Deadly' Dieter and Ferrell will both add to the violent and relentlessly aggressive Unicorns identity whilst Reinhardt is expected to contribute towards the defensive line.
OUTGOING DEPARTURES
To make room for these new players, several notable names have departed Übersreik.
Legendary ogre
Barry Gryson moved on to the Doomkeep Manticores in exchange for Hankins and a pick to ensure Blätter could be recruited. Gryson played over 50 times for the Unicorns, earned the Dietmar Althoff Bronze Medal, and caused 15 casualties. The club will discuss adding Gryson to the Unicorns' Hall of Fame.
Arthur Dent, who joined in Season XII from the Avalanche, played 46 games for the Unicorns but will continue his career at the Knights, in exchange for Enthurger. Additionally,
Ola Adeniyi, who previously appeared for the Skar Bar Sharks and Brionnian Buccaneers. Adeniyi has only played 26 games but will be on his fourth club as he moves to Kemperbad too.
Blitzer
Carlos Torrosa was surprisingly cut from the roster, to accommodate the addition of Blätter. 'The Terror' played 15 games, causing 2 casualties, and was a compensation pick at the start of Season XIV.
Rookie lineman
Isaiah Blaide joins the Middenheim Classics as part of the trade which enabled Ferrell to be picked in the draft.
Rookies
Hayden Vladamere (lineman) and
Zachary Blaide (blitzer) have also been cut.
The club wish all of our former players all the best at their new teams.
