Pity that the Carter movie was trash, I have fond memories of reading all the books back in my youth, but indeed, the reviews I read on that movie all steered me away from bothering with it.
Maybe if it gets to NetFlix I'll waste a couple drunken hours with it...

Awesome, looks fantastic. Been waiting for the new Alien movie for a few years. We can't expect it be as good as Alien or Aliens but iif it keeps in the right atmosphere and history(seems like it) then maybe it could surpass the ALien 3 level which is still v good.
I hope they don't show more advanced human tech then on the other movies.

you guys are getting excited over a new movie from an established successful movie franchise that has been on a fairly long hiatus? *facepalms* how many times do you have to see hollywood sell out the cult fan base in order to attract a new audience (consequently, pissing off both parties because neither like the finished product) with a movie franchise that has been on such a hiatus?

John Carter was great! Prometheus will almost undoubtedly be better. But John Carter was totally worth the (0$) money I spent! But I'm also a die hard sci-fi fan, and it doesn't really matter about how much hollywood butchers these things, I still love them..

This prequel has been discussed for years, and it's been freaking over 30 years so I don't think they are that worried about the 'cult' fan base, nor do I think the cult fan base is that worried about it.
People can probably accept it for what it is going to be rather than worry about what it should have been 20 years ago. also it's a prequel, and unlikely to be as totally retarded as any of the AvP crap which has been vomited out over the years.
I don't really care though, it looks like it should be damn fine, and if it's not cannon then so freaking what.
