Check the litter box. If your cat hasn't given birth before... the first one may end up there.

In my experience they find a safe quiet soft spot (we usually made one for them in advance). Also: they handle everything themselves, so you can just check back in next day and see what the cat dragged out.

Yeah, we had a lotta cats & a lotta kittens when I was young. Top advice is leave em to it, disturbing the process may not be bad, but it certainly won't improve anything, unless you have an umbilical choking a kitten or somethin similar. & the longer you can do that, the better it is...
