Whisky-o! Jonny-o! Rise that yard from down below! Welcome aboard the Dreki Fanzone as we hoist the mainsail and plot a course for CIBBL Spring.
The Dreki heaved-to with the Golden Dirk and the corsairs swung across to challenge the might of Calico Jack's Black Flags.
The Dreki had lost the last two Spring encounters between the teams, but performed well in Winter with a raft of new and emerging players, so the pressure was on the corsairs to put in a good performance.
Himminglaeva lurked deep with the ball while the rest of the crew tried to find an opening while avoiding the mighty fists and heavy boots of the pirates. A switch of sides found Bölge in space and Himminglaeva pinged a long pass.
The pirates of Sartosa found it difficult to match the corsairs speed and agility, but Calico Jack found a way through but could not manage to wrestle the elf down.
Stiorra lunged in to push the burly captain away but he stood firm, and was able to shove Bölge into touch and deny the score.
Dreki regrouped and prepared to defend against the pirates (who were down a couple of key players thanks to the corsairs new-found hard hitting edge).
It was looking good for the pirates when Drethik Vipertongue seized the ball and surged forwards, but the Dreki's hired wizard had other ideas, blasting him to the ground, stunned, and removing Captain Jack from the game with the same fireball.
Himminglaeva danced in and pinged the ball away.
There was still a bit of a tussle with the remaining pirates but really, the game was done and Himminglaeva was able to stroll in the winning TD just before the full time bell was rung.
As well as the stunning contribution of the wizard, we would like to shine a light on an unsung but rising star of the Dreki - the Kraken Helm Haltija. Only 14 games played but already a vital stalwart of the team - in this game he was responsible for knocking four of the pirates from the pitch including the huge scalps of Aetru Wraithshade and Dog Rough Drimond early in the match.
Thanks for tuning in, see you next time!
