CIBBL Pit Division Pre-Game 7 Swan Riders vs Aethyric Humours
Greeting sports fans,

What a week! The Swan Riders are still celebrating their historical win against the Strigoi team Corpse Run Nightmares ( https://fumbbl.com/p/match?id=4288946 ). This was their 3rd win in 6 games and thus they became the best Halfling Team in the history of CIBBL: none other Halfling team managed to have 3 wins in CIBBL, the best record was 2 W and 2 D by the infamous Lord of the Harvest during Year 6. About our chances in the Pit Division this victory did not change much for us, we are still fighting to achieve a respectable mid-table division. The game was more disheartening for the poor and until now undefeated Corpse Run Nightmares, who lost almost 400K (!) in their team value during our game and now they are fighting the mighty Snotlings of Spitepeak Sabotage for the title, who by way they lost for first time at the last round against our next opponent Aethyric Humours (https://fumbbl.com/p/match?id=4289731 ). Nightmares and Sabotage had a marvelous performance so far and their last round game will gonna decide the Pit Championship and it is something that everyone should be watching for.

How the Swan Riders achieved this huge victory against a so strong team in front of 24000 Spectators? Two words → Master Chef! The hunger of Strigoi is always a serious problem for the team and the culinary abilities of our Master Chefs brought their doom. The team collapsed from within very fast. It is very interesting, that the Nightmares managed only once during the game to enter our territory and becoming a scoring threat, but the lone ball carrier was immediately surrounded by 5 of our players. The sight of a Halfling team to outnumber massively the opponents is very rare and the sport crowd in Moot enjoyed greatly. During the last round only two opponents of the Nightmares were still in field. Some sports commentators noted that the Swan Riders lost the chance for a 2nd TD by unnecessary Throwing Team Mate instead of running the ball to the End Zone, but the excitement was so great that this did not matter so much for the players, the fans and the coach. We have still a long road to learn how to play professional fantasy football, if we even manage to be at this level someday. We are still enjoying every draw and a win as a championship title!

One game still for us in the Pit Division, this time against the Air Elementals of Aethyric Humours (https://fumbbl.com/p/team?op=view&team_id=1019695 ). Their season was not so spectacular with 3 W and 3 L, but during their last game knocked off the undefeated Sabotage in their home putting fire in the Pit! It should be a big mistake to become complacent, since Humours are able to win every game and their roster is impressive. It is the first time that Halflings meet Air Elementals in CIBBL, thus not so much to say for this match up. It is a interesting test for us, since it is the first agility oriented Team whom we will face up (they have a lot of Leap and Diving Catch, but also hitting power).

Did you know …. #7
…. that after the victory of the Swan Riders agains the Nightmares for first time in their history their merchandise became briefly the top selling sports merchandise in Moot? Normally this honor is belonging traditionally to the Greenfield Grasshuggers and their green and yellow uniform or matching clothing with their symbols. But our Blue and Black uniform and our Swan emblem started to gaining ground because of our unbelievable performances. Off-course we are not going some time soon to dethrone such a legendary team, but we are very happy that we left our mark in the history of the Halfling Fantasy Football.

Screw the other sports commentators :) it's fun halfling tossing right? Liked that. It's like my cages that aren't cages if they are open

Nice report. There was a brief moment in first half, where there was still Nightmare players on the pitch, where the ghoul carrying the ball failed his 8/9 chance to bring the ball to safety. Would probably not have changed things.

"Their season was not so spectacular with 3 W and 3 L". Lies. It's been an extravaganza, a once in a lifetime spectacle, a rollercoaster of emotion which will have built to an insane crescendo by the time they step/fly/wash onto the pitch with the Swan Riders. The battle for possibly even as high as 3rd place in the pit, but more likely 4th or 5th will be remembered for centuries. It may need a catchier name than "the battle for possibly even as high as 3rd place in the pit, but more likely 4th or 5th" but we can sort that out post event. Will a high gravity day lead to a pitch littered with the remains of badly tossed halflings and inexpertly leapt air elementals? Or will halflings and elementals alike soar through buoyant air landing softly on the mossy cushioned pit pitch surface? Only time will tell...

I would say that the truest title is "the battle for possibly even as high as 3rd place in the Pit, but more likely to avoid the 6th place". But I agree that we should change it for PR reasons.
