It's more fun if...
Dear coaches,

Surprisingly, Fumbbl is a lot more fun you treat it like you're playing with another person instead of a computer.

By which I mean:

* Indulge in banter
* Talk to your opponent at all
* Realise that "gl" and "gg" is not a conversation.

If you follow these tips, I think you'll be surprised to realise that you enjoy the game whether you are losing or winning.

It is more fun when people talk more for sure,
just don't forget lots of people here don't speak English

Yeah, I totally agree. I always have a lot more fun with coaches who are more laid back and chatty, even if I'm losing. I think there are a few people who take it way too seriously and forget that Fumbbl is also a community and after all it's only a game - surely having fun is the main thing?

Agreed, but we are all subject to mood swings! Sometimes I'm Mr. Chatty, and sometimes I'm Mr. Grumpy!

In general yes. Sometimes though it makes things worse.

I think we've all played against the gloating poor-winner and the complain-about-luck-while-totally-lucking-you guy.

I've actually found that many newer players are quite chatty, both in asking stuff about the game or client, or just commenting on how the game is going. Some of the vets are excellent as well, but I think a lot of them have the game down to such a science/grind that they don't care to chat much anymore.

As for players with limited english, it takes at least a basic functioning knowledge to get a game going (unless playing only with speakers of your native language). Just little tidbits like "grats" after a score or "nice hit" here and there are a huge step up over the blank wall of no-text.

Bloodbowl's better if you treat it like the comedy game it so obviously is (judging from the rulebooks) and generally try not to give a shit.
But, saying that, it's always better if you LET your opponent know you couldn't give a toss if something dies :)

Well depends on the opponent. My last opponent spent the game whining about my luck (I was being very lucky). Told me to shut up at one point and tried to mock me for not having a life. He then decided that I needed therapy for my issues. Not very pleasant coach on the plus side I did win

I have spectated 3 games today... absolutely no text... BORING!
I always chat a lot, mostly laughting at me when I fail sumthing, also laughting at the other coach if I manage to kick his ass xD

Good point with the not speaking English thing, but we could always have two entirely one-sided conversations! Or at least say "je ne parle pas l'Anglais." or something, n'est-ce pas? (Please accept my apologies for the horrible French, francophones. :(

While you words hold truth, I can remember many Blood Bowl games where both players haven't talked much in real life.

In a competitive Magic The Gathering too much talking could be quite annoying, actually.

Though I agree that relaxed chatting is cool usually, it can sometimes become distractive and disrupt your concentration.

It's rather easier to ignore some text than actual speech ..but really how much concentratino do you need when the other player is taking their turn? (sure it's nice if you make your plan then but typing a few words isn't going to stop you.
