Is it just me who has 20 year old unpainted miniatures?
I finally had enough of hoarding miniatures that I am never going to paint. The Orcs and Stars i've had for over 20 years and enough it enough! I can't be the only one in the same position?

Check out my miniatures of eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/wotfudboy/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

Also note I am selling some Willy Miniatures Undead Zombies and Ghouls which are surplus to my requirements too!

Happy bidding all..

I am saving up for a Skaven team I have my eye on, so link it to mates if you think they are interested and help a fellow Fumbbler out! :)

Nah mate I have figures unpainted in over twenty years.
It's a freakish phenomena that happens to those with real life pressures :-)

I always thought that metal Orc team were some of the finest, most characterful minis GW ever produced.

Lol I have about 20 20 year old unpainted teams :D
Posted by Tymless on 2015-11-19 02:37:33
I on the other hand have 9 teams that have only the special players painted. Like only the ghouls, wights and mummies on my undead are painted. My woodies only have wardancers and catchers painted. And so on. Dedication is not my strong point. Though I do have most of a Harlequin army painted for some reason.

I will hang my head in shame knowing I will never paint the rest of my figures and they deserve to be sold to a good home.

I am in the same boat, minus the quit. I WILL paint them! :P

Paint em up, man! News of specialist games coming back and making blood bowl again means that your minis will be a proud badge of a long time coach. Even though I've not been playing 20 years, I think the models are still quite good.

Same... Although I started up my Orcs last week.

You putting anything else up on the auction block?
Posted by harvestmouse on 2015-11-19 06:40:34
They're called 'lead mountains'. I think I've got a lead mountain to rival anybody's lead mountain.

I remember there was something on how many Warhammer and Warhammer 40k figures bought, actually ever were painted and played as a significant sized force. By that a smallish 1000 points. It was something ridiculous like 10%. And how many people buying the figures actually ever painted and played them vs another person, was similar. Maybe why the hobby is dying as it was never actually that much of a hobby to begin with.

Don't get me wrong... I have been getting through them, but these were simply surplus models, plain and simple.

For example I recently completed painting up a GW Undead team. And then, as part of Willy Miniatures Indigogo campaign for their goblin team I also bought from them a Necro team... but quickly realised that I should have just bought the werewolves alone as I could obviously just mix and match the Undead team to make a Necro team... hence selling the Willy Miniatures Ghouls and Zombies.

At the same time, back in 1995 I painted the then new Dark Elf team... but then someone at a later stage changed the Roster... and I searched high and low for 2 extra DE Blitzers and another Thrower (Runner)... in the end I had to buy a DE team just to grab those three models and a couple of extra linemen for good measure... hence the selling of the remaining Witch Elves and linemen.

As for the Orc team, I have a full compliment of GW Orcs and these were simply extras I didn't need, and I have a painted Morg'n'Thorg and Varag too!

It's not that I'm giving up on painting them... just that they are literally spares and I need the cash to help me justify buying a Skaven team (torn between Meiko and Greebo Hand of Death teams at the moment!).

I won't even start on the hordes of W40K and High Elf Fantasy army I was collecting that haven't even had their blister packs opened yet!

My God, i love THOSE orcs SO MUCH! BOB are awesome, but blitzers, .....

Well, i dont really know if i mean the mini itself, i mean quality and so on, or really the feeling you get when you see the blitzer: "This guy will REALLY hit hard and get to make a whole in opponent defense".

Apart from that, minis were not all the same, right? I mean all the 4 blitzers were not exactly the same and so on, if i dont remember it wrong. I do have that old orc team somewhere, i cant really remember where right now...

Or maybe i passed it over to one of my nephews?? (My kids are still too young for that, but now i have the feeling i should have saved this for them...)
Posted by gansus on 2015-11-19 12:30:26
For the records, i DID paint them: i am a bad painter but even baring that in mind, they are much more awesome after the painting ;)

@ganus - This is now the Orcland Raiders looked: http://www.solegends.com/citcat94/cat1994013-01.htm

The ones I am selling are spares of that team.

I finally finished painting my high elf team a couple of months ago, having started them soon after buying them... in 1995. So yeah... I know exactly what you mean ;-)

If I had funds I'd be tempted by those orcs, I need a few more to finish my team and the 3rd edition team is lovely! But I'm totally broke atm :-(

Around 1995 or so a local shop went out of business. Way back in those days I was big in WHFB and Epic.

So, I went into the shop and found out what was happening. 75% off close out sale.

I emptied their shelfs of most of the WHFB mini's and got all the EPIC stuff.

The vast majority of the WHFB stuff is still in original blisters in a massive bin up in my attic. I have over 300 blister packs and around 25 set piece boxes in that bin.

One of these days, one of these days.

That might be the bin I get my twin boys into the hobby in a few years.

BTW I still have some stuff, loose, from my early days of Blood Bowl and WHFB, they litter another bin I have with all my ancient stuff from high school.
Posted by Wotfudboy on 2015-11-20 19:31:05
@Painstate - Why isn't my attic like that... mine is full of boring stuff :(
@jamesfarrel - Winter... I mean Christmas is coming... perhaps you should link those Orcs to your family to buy you! :) ... ok... enough of the hard sell! :)

I'm still gutted they changed Warhammer FB into Warhammer Space Marines vs Chaos... I never got to play WFB, but I will still press ahead with my High Elf army and one day, when I've killed off the Mrs (and Im free to put up whatever I want in the house) I will put them in a nice display case for only my admiration... as everyone else will think they are rubbish! :)

As a side comment to my earlier post.

I still have a un opened in the shrink wrap the Titan Legions box. Oh I loved Epic before they demolished it and slagged it out.

I remember my mum & dad were eager to get me started on GW hobby, and bought me an Epic W40k game... and I was gutted when I opened it up (in my young innocence) and realised they were not the miniatures I had seen in a magazine, but instead were micro-miniatures... It went back to the shop... I can't remember what I got instead... was it Space Hulk?... hmmm can't remember...
