My goodbye to Graham Taylor
Okay, it's pretty obvious to most who know me that I'm a Watford FC fan - even if you don't know me, my gaming tag is Wotfudboy - "WOT-FUD" being what the fans shout. Having lived and grown up in Watford, it is the place of my childhood. During my childhood (across the 1980s) it was Graham Taylor who put us on the footballing map. I still remember the disappointment of the FA Cup final vs Everton, but previously to that I remember Watford ascending the leagues to come 2nd in the what was then the First Division. My school even got to go to Vicarage Road to watch the team train in the snow! I even took along an old kodak picture I took of Luther Blissett at the time in the 80's and got it signed many years later by Luther, the goal scoring king himself, in 2016. Graham Taylor orchestrated all of that, and I doubt we would be in the Premiership today without him.

I tend to make Watford FC themed teams, especially in League, and my Big Guys tend to be called 'Graham Taylor'. My most successful and long running team has been the OBBA Chaos Dwarf team 'Watford Hornhits', and I haven't had a Big Guy in the team since April 2015 when pythrr and his Bristol Reavers -av/mng the last one.

However, in a tiny little show of heart-felt warmth for the man, I've signed a new Mino 'Graham Taylor RIP (IV)'. He may bloat the team, give far too many inducements away and stand there raging, but it's my tribute to the man that made Watford great.

Thanks GT!

By all accounts a true gent of the game. never did a 'racism' like Big Ron, never went bonkers like Clough, no Pleat stlye slow driving issues, no 'bloomin foreigns' rants and no one even linked him to motorway services and brown envelopes.

So maybe the one of his generation that wasnt doing any of that? or jut lucky/careful as hell. Either way, I salute him and his actually very good record in club management.

Well said, and agree the Hornets wouldn't be where they are today without Graham Taylor.
