"Now to keep him alive" - St 5 blodge will probably help there!

a legend in LRB6?...i fail to see the accomplishment...
Posted by Wraith on 2011-07-06 13:24:35
Hey pythrr, take a look at his past players, from what I see that's not a min/max team... he isn't firing non-injured players to keep TV low.

I actually spec'd the match where his mino hit legendary, he has a losing record because, he's one of those coaches who plays to kill and not the ball. That doesn't make someone a min/max'er though, it just makes them someone with a bad record.

Not just first lrb6 legend but first legend in 14 years of playing the game. First chance i've had to play as many games with 1 team.

Yep, he's a filthy Cpomber with av8. Foulbait is entirely accurate.

Hello Wraith.

Hugs to you and your reality!

Corvidius: love him. Let him die in B foul fest!

:)

Pythrr, i expect nothing less. Although now he's got max skills i'd expect his Piling On to be a lot more tactical. Combined with his Break Tackle, Dodge andTackle he should be a pretty handy defender.

My reality is the same reality that most of us live in... his team is not min/max, by any definition of the term. He has a couple players hogging all the SPP, but that happens on normal teams too.

He doesn't fire non-essential players who skill-up, he has cheerleaders and assistant coaches lol, he has a ton of bloat from numerous doubles, etc... all signs of someone who doesn't min/max their team.

He may be a dirty clawpomb'er and all, but he is most definitely not a min/max'er.

Wraith, i have got rid of a couple of players that weren't injured. My Gobbo for a start, the team does have some min maxing, but not overly. Of course, it could be argued that min maxing is necessary to play 'competitively' in a tv matched environment but that's not something i necessarily agree with.

I try to play to the character of a team,so anything with Chaos in the name is going to kill, not score. Wood Elves on the other hand will score as much as possible and Dark Elves will see both as equal priorities. That's just how i play it. :)

That's not min/max, that's dropping a TV hog player that isn't worth the investment (which is something that any moderately intelligent coach would do). Min/max is when you maximize the effect for a minimal TV investment... in an attempt to gain an advantage over traditionally built rosters. A good example of min/max is a 1300TV roster with three legends, 8 rookie linemen and 2-3 team rerolls. Where you fire any rookie that levels up, to stay at that lower TV, in order to play against teams where you should have a significant advantage (due to skill stacks).

Fair enough man, fair enough. Different folks have different views on these kind of things.

Hmmm, fire everyone except the Ogre, Mino and Elf. There's an idea. ;)

min max is as min max does. If Cord wants to be a min maxer, let him. Don;t discriminate against him.

Why the hate, Wraith?
Posted by Corvidius on 2011-07-07 12:14:15
Cord? Interesting.
Posted by Wraith on 2011-07-07 15:14:30
I'm not hating... I'm clarifying what certain terms, which people like to throw around, actually mean.

Min/max is when you spend the bare minimum of your resources to get the maximum effect. Aka you understand the mechanics, weigh the options and take full advantage of what you can. I.E. stacking skills like POMB or blodge are examples of player min/max, a 1300 TV roster with 3 legends is an example of roster min/max, etc... when a coach is referred to as "min/max'er", the vast majority of the time it refers to roster min/max'ing, because pretty much everyone min/max's players.
