So, the new rules are out there.
This was received with the usual
composed and thoughtful reaction in our community, as the forums clearly show.
Now, I'll be straightforward about it: I LOVE the new rules.
It's not that I think they're great or something. In fact, the rules don't even matter.
What I LOVE about the new rules is the fact that they're NEW.
This makes CRP the OLD rules.
This makes me an OLD PLAYER. And I just love it. Being old is what really reflects my inner self.
Now, being OLD, I also get the privilege of being GRUMPY!
I already picture myself schooling the new kids, always grumbling about how the new (and therefore silly) rules made things so much worse. I will get to use the beloved sentence "back in my days"! As in "Back in my days a man was a man, and a goat was a clawpomber!".
Opposed to "My days" will be "these days" which obviously suck compared to my days!
I compare them to question the manliness of newcomers because the new, silly rules make their life so much easier than it was back in my day! Back when a man was a man and a goat was a clawpomber! "You call that a man THESE DAYS?Back in MY days you weren't a man until you killed a clawpomb st6 legend!"
I will be able to commentate monster elf teams with gems like "This bunch of morons wouldn't have lasted a game back in my day. It took REAL MEN to play elves back then. With all the Piling On, and Spiralling expenses... but what would you know?"
When I'll see developed dorfs I will rant, disgusted "Back in MY day, Dorfs were Tin Cans! And when you popped them, 2 spps dropped out of 'em!"
I'm working on some catchphrases already, such as:
"When did Blood Bowl become Ballet Bowl for god's sake!"
"Them fools! They took the blood straight out of this game! And replaced it with Expensive MoXXXXXXing Mistakes!"
"Do you even know what a 56% removal chance is? Of course you don't, you sissy! Now get back to that pillowfight you call 'Blood Bowl'! Pffft."
"Argue the call! Yeah, now that should keep that killer from Piling O...h wait, this ain't blood bowl anymore rite?"
"Fend???? Seriously?!?!? This must be grandfathered..."
And so on, I'm very open to suggestions!
Looking forward to it.
Amazing times of inner oldness and gratuitous grumpytude await us - or me at the very least!
