My bio page is as yet virgin when it comes to won tournaments. I don't get around to playing too many but I figured if I entered the occasional SMACK, I might get lucky some time to have three manageable and/or lucky games in a row and take one home. However, when I saw the draw for the current
Minor, I did not regard it as something I could actually have a shot at winning. Yet here I am in the final, only one more victory away from glory! However did that happen?
While this tournament has taken me to a record high CR of 164.57, I am still hardly a match for the competitors I have faced. I have played 160 ranked games with a win percentage of 57%. The coaches I have beaten to get to the final (after my 1st round free pass) were: 2nd round stboub (1425 / 65% and 3 titles), 3rd round Araushnar (1522 / 58 % and 10 titles, one of them a Major), and 4th round vaclav (1297 / 61 % and 40 titles). I still can't believe it.
The good thing about being outclassed as a coach is you can play recklessly without regret. And I had entered
Woodies, the best team there is in Blood Bowl at recklessness. Then after the first match, my +AG Wardancer rolled another +AG. That, and twice the wizard, and succeeding at all the important 2+ and even 3+ rolls, summed up to Irresistible. I made a few nervous mistakes but none cost me. It was very exciting.
So now for the final. I am lucky not to be facing Purple Chest and his nasty Dwarves. Instead it's Kaenthos of all people, with
Chaos! Fun fact: Kaenthos has his office two doors from mine so we talk Blood Bowl on our coffee break every day. How likely is it that we would meet in the final of an official tournament? Yet here we are. He is the better coach (777 / 67 % and 14 titles) but the match-up seems to be in my favour. We shall see if Nuffle will smile on me and my Woodies one more time.
The game is probably going to be today at 21:30 hrs server time or shortly after. If you were to throw a rock, would you aim for the ClawPOMBer or the AG 6?
