This was one of the most nail biting games I have played to date. Both team's played a rough bashy style of running game, with Nordbergs going up 1-0 in the first half with some nifty blocking and a key dodge roll to scamper into the end zone.
My possession in the second half lasted all eight turns. I just haven't found a way to make a chaos team move fast, it's all about getting those warriors out in front and caging up. The funny thing is, I can't make up my mind which half of the field to attack, the end result looks like Barry Sanders trying to find a hole in the line, I zig-zagged back across the width of the field looking for a gap.
On turn seven I handed the ball off to my STR 5 chaos warrior and sprinted for the endzone. Alas, Nordberg moved in and cut me off from scoring putting three tackle zones on the ball carrier. Turn eight comes up and Jub Jub, my Ogre, bone heads my blitz, the writing on the wall is pretty clear, I ain't walking this ball into the endzone. I stand up a beastman and run him into the end zone. A second chaos warrior by the ball carrier makes a chain block and reduces the tackle zones to one, but alas, it's the guy right in front of where i need to pass, a blitzer no less with an 3 AG.
So I have a chaos warrior with an 3 AG and no passing skills at all, in the tackle zone of an enemy, throwing the ball directly over that player, for a medium range pass, to a guy with an 3 AG and no catching skills whatsoever...end result, TOUCHDOWN! and all of the chaos player immediately give praise to nuffle. And to top it off, when Nordberg went looking for blood on turn 16, his first roll was double skulls with no re-rolls.
Team notes: This was the last academy match up for Nurgle Smells, they have moved on to unranked. Two skills, Block for one of my Chaos Warriors, and Kick for a beastman. Spent half of my 120k on an additional beastman and have the other half just sitting around for a rainy day.
Game thoughts: Worked alot more on not leaving my team in the tackle zones of the other team. I started out with a major thing about marking up and putting a man on everyone. I find more and more it's about not putting a man on everyone but rather a man in the way of everyone...
