FFB Update: Still kicking ...
It's been silent on the FFB development front, suspiciously, perhaps alarmingly silent and I'm sorry for that.

Job issues, health issues and the loss of my busy help Lakrillo (thanks for all your precious time, buddy!) have slowed things to a crawl.

But I'm still around, still working on the game and still determined to see it finished.

To enable further progress however, I had to take a step back and refactor the way the (many, many) states of a game are handled in the server. Too much code duplication, too many halfhearted patches here and there and a severe lack of documentation combined with some memory-leaks (on my part, not the code ;-) made growing the game ever more difficult.

So right now I'm doing some serious housecleaning before adding new stuff and I hope to remove some longstanding bugs in the process (as well as adding some shiny new ones ;-).

I need to ask you for some more patience, I'm afraid, as I can't give an ETA for the next release yet.

Game on! Have fun!

Oh man, good luck with the memory leaks. I've had some very bad ones myself ;-)

How come Lakrillo has backed out on this amazing client? :(
Posted by Lakrillo on 2011-11-14 16:17:15
The reason i have not been that active is a combination of lack of time, lack of inspiration for the project (had other things that pulled me more) and also that a started to code the mercenaries and would have a lot of more work on it before it could be tested.

I have however now made sure i have a working coding environment again after i switched to a new computer this summer and i have closed about 20 duplicate bugs today...
will see how much time i can put into it.

Merry Christmas to you, Kalimar, Lak, and to everyone on your development staff. Thank you so very much for the hours... nay, the years of enjoyment I have experienced here.

I hope to see you around, about, and active once again soon! All the best!

P.S. - As a humorous aside, all I want for Christmas is a goblin bomber! I know that's not really doable for you at the moment time-wise, but I hope I can safely speak for all of us when I say we are awaiting in excitement for your next developmental block.

Thx for the work you put into the client.

Please make sure to add some very weird bugs this time. Infinite gold and troll eating the ball is not enuff.! :)
