FFB 1.2.0 release date
Christer and I have synced our schedules and determined Sunday, October 5th as release date for FFB version 1.2.0. We'll start migrating around 20:00 server time. This will likely cause some problems as we're going to use a new database, a new way to store replays, new player icons etc. We do have a fallback scenario switching back to the old (current) version if everything goes ballooney. Please have some patience with us and schedule important games on another date.

FFB version 1.2.0 will bring you:

- the Dirty Tricks card deck
- a Card playing animation when using a card in the game (thanks to WhatBall for the graphics)
- Player Markers saved by team (on starting a new game your players will be marked the same as in the last game)
- Custom pitches to be used for tournaments or your own leagues (thanks to Garion for putting a lot of work into these)
- a couple of new chat commands in test mode (set up a custom pitch, change the weather, add a card)
- a lot of bug fixes (such as 2x GFI on a TTM, lots of Bomb trouble etc.)

Plus a lot more technical stuff such as a new way to store replays (drastically reducing database size), a new communications layer (wich will allow for a JavaScript client in the future) and a better way to handle sounds (and hopefully avoid the client crashes we've seen lately).

Keep on playing!

Ooh, dirty tricks. That should make cards a LOT better. =D
Cheers for Kalimar and the test team!

Btw, are there any requirements for the pitch? File size? Type?

Blindingly brilliant!

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that I cannot possibly thank you, Christer, Whatball, and everyone that works to make FUMBBL the absolute best place for me to come and get throttled by top-notch coaches.

I didn't see it mentioned, but at least if I may ask if there are any bug fixes as it relates to failing a GFI on Pass Block?
Posted by polardragon on 2014-09-28 15:47:36
Really looking forward to it. Thanks for all the hard work.

Rated 13 for extreme awesomeness.

Just fabulous... so fabulous I will say it a third time: FABULOUS.

Excellent news! Thanks for your work!

Greatest news since the last announcement of an upgraded bbowl client.
Posted by uuni on 2014-09-28 18:38:41
Apojar: I do not see such bug reports. On Pass Block even unrooted Treemen move three squares. Please file a bug report if you know unreported bug.

Hallelujah, Jehova, Allahu Akbar. A pantheon of features! It is angelic hymn like music to the ears (e.g. Annie Lennox must be talkin to an angel). Rated eleven. Fantastic work.

Great News. Just in time for my 10 year anniversary. :)

Awesome news. Big thanks to Garion for all the hard work he put in on some great new pitches.
Posted by Roland on 2014-09-29 08:18:39
will there be an animation for the custard pie?
Posted by Garion on 2014-09-29 09:39:04
Yes you are right.
Posted by the_Sage on 2014-09-29 09:49:16
Oops, deleted my comment because it sounded ungrateful (which I'm not, I think this is fantastic). Garion replied to:

Am I correct in assuming that displaying custom team logos for gamefinder and blackbox games are not yet fixed?
Posted by Kalimar on 2014-09-29 10:03:39
@theSage: said problem still is a mystery to me. I really don't think that it's the client's fault, but rather has something to do with the way image urls are mapped in fumbbl. But then I can't prove that either. A solution will present itself sooner or later, I hope.

@Garion: added my thanks in the main text above. Forgot to credit you for the pitches, sorry.
