Great job Kalimar! Keep up the good work.

You, are a major-league resource... 8)
Is it best to allow a concession at any time during a turn? It seems unfair to provide an opportunity to commit unscrupulous acts and then, theoretically, fleeing the consequences.
Would it be preferable to make it so that concessions can happen only at the start of a turn in which the number of turns for each side is equal? i.e. every turn, but only at the beginning?

Great! Cant wait for your next blog post. :)

@Archevol: Concession rules are part of the "social contract" here at Fumbbl, which states quite clearly under which circumstances a concession is allowed. There is no need for the client to restrict the user any further. If you are allowed to do it you shouldn't have to wait needlessly.

Archevol, so only the recieving team can conceed?
GJ Kalimar - Thats a dead certain 6.

Great work as usual.
I notice in screenshot 2 'earnt SPPs' is ignoring the two MVPs. On purpose?
Also to reecho someone's sentiments in an earlier blog I think it would be a good idea to put KOs, cas, and the dungeon all together. You can then give half the squares to a KO area and the other half to game-ending stuff (cas + sendings off). It's much simpler to have just two views to switch between. Also this means that you can automatically switch the view to reserves during setups, and to the other one during gameplay.

I think that being able to concede at any point during your turn is wrong.
I thought the idea was to always keep the client as close as possible to the rules, which state you can only concede at the start of your turn.
I understand that there may be rules governing concessions, but do we really need to put the admins under even more pressure from games where someone fouls, kills a star, then concedes to avoid retribution?
Posted by Kalimar on 2010-03-04 17:49:56
@clarkin: got me there. I actually noticed that after having taken screenshot 3, fixed it and redid screenshot 3. Should have redone screenshot 2 as well. Very attentive, sir!
I actually do the split you suggest for the casualty box, I would like to keep the KO box separate though. KO players may come back, Casualty players won't and those sent to the dungeon are yet another matter *shrug*. You'll have to try and see. The boxes aren't typically open during turn play.

@DukeTyrion: I think I get what you mean. I can always be more strict, that's not a problem. But you don't avoid illegal concessions in general by only being able to concede at the start of the turn.

I appreciate that, but I think the client being as strict to the rules as possible, would assist the admins with only having to deal with 'site specific' concession rules.
The unusual concessions (at the start of turns), will still remain an issue, but hopefully it's one that most are used to.
Sadly I think the client needs to be programmed for the lowest user, if you allowed 8 GFI's with the explaination that only 2 are allowed (without Sprint), someone would still try and use all 8 to gain an advantage. (Weird example I know).
Apart from that, thanks for all the awesome work on the client, and apologies if I sound to critical. I am very much looking forward to playing Fantasy Football \o/

altho Duke, if you think about it...
perhaps it might be useful to have a few differences just in case GW come a knocking...
Posted by DukeTyrion on 2010-03-04 18:39:10
perhaps, but I don't think when concessions are allowed will help much as a form of defence :-P

Looks great! Now how about teasing us all with a potential roll out date??? ;)
Posted by JellyBelly on 2010-03-04 19:56:00
Looks awesome. Are we still currently able to test out the new client in the 'lrb5' division on the site, or is that still closed down following the GW legal letter?

Reply of support: great stuff! And still a perfect 6 score!
I noticed that the "Alphatest" link appears to be using the new pitch and design, so I presume these updates are being released then?
I can't wait for the revolution blog that tells us match results are updated on FUMBBL.com!!
