So I just finished a Sprint with my Nurgle team - Nurg Jersey Devils and I got lots of HOT TAEKS about them.

I played with 16 Menz? and went foul heavy because so help me Nuffle, I need to induce CAS even if I don't have CPoMB available (nor may I ever - more on that later)

1. They're forgiving - The Regen, the Foul Appearance, the Tents, all lessen the burden to play your absolute best Blood Bowl.

2. Tieing with them is very attainable if you receive first. More so than my other teams, I find it easy to take 8 turns to score and then haplessly try and prevent an opposing score. More conservative coaches will play for the tie and occasionally lose but by and large the emotional peaks and valleys of Nurgle are less volatile and the games are much less dynamic in terms of turnovers, scrambles for the ball, hits on the ball carrier, etc etc.

3. Foul Appearance can turn a good move into a bad one immediately. I'll insert the game URL here later but there were a few games where one or two FAs in a row left my opponent completely vulnerable counter blocks with bad bad Nurgz. It's fairly easy to present your opponent with nothing but FA opportunities to block you in the early turns of a drive and it can cause headaches. Think of it as Bone-Head for your opponents where the question becomes "Is it worth it to reroll this FA and if so, what does this do for the moves for the rest of the turn?". I think that it's one of those skills that gets better the more of it you have and people can discount the 1/6 chance for failing it at the worst possible moments, especially if they're planning 3-4 blocks that need to overcome it.

4. The team itself is fun for team building because there are so many options and directions to go thanks to mutations. Foul first, clawpomb, positional nightmares, pseudo elves, almost anything your little heart desires can be done within the framework of the team. That so many people fall into one type of build isn't a surprise but I'm starting to think that some of the most annoying player types aren't clawpomb.

For example, instead of taking POMB on NWs, I'd reckon I'd rather go with mass Block, Claw, MB, Guard, Tackle/Prehensile/Tentacles - you've got the skills to allow you to get to that lofty amount of SPP, you've got the regen/FA/ST to survive in tough environments. Playing all these high TV opponents, it was very rare for me to think "gee, if I only had PO, this would be a lot easier" Keep your damage machines upright and protected through mass FA and Guard.

5. It's too forgiving a team to consistently be a challenge and a lot of games play out the same. Much the way of my high TV Necro, you can guess who received first by total team turns in the box score and ultimately that's not very rewarding to me. I can see why people play Nurgle, more so than I used to and there's something to be said for auto piloting through games (especially if you're playing to wind down and relax) but it just doesn't feel as rewarding as pulling off wins against them with teams that aren't suited very well to beat them.

I'll play with them again in a few months since the team building lure is strong but for now I am content to put them away on the shelf.
