Becoming a better coach
So i'm determined to become better at this game.

My coach rating has gone up quite a bit. My play style is slowly getting better (I think anyway)

But any tips from you all?

My biggest problem is I protect my star players WAY too much.

would you try to keep them safe mostly or just treat them as another player?

I would say you need to protect your stars.

BUT

at some point in every match there is a point reached where IF you risk you star to make a play. It will pay off usually.

So you risk a star to win the match and sometimes you pay dearly for the win by his death. But that is why he is the team and is a star...he makes plays.

SO...allways protect your best players BUT when the situation arises to use his talent...dont back off and go craven with him and let some lackey do the job of the star.

I agree with Painstate.

Best way to increase CR is to play good teams like CD, woodies or darkies. Best way to becaome a good coach is to play crappy teams like humans or vamps and learn to winn with them. After that playing the better races will feel like cheating.

I agree with RC in principle but there is a middle ground rarely seen but still useful for learning: coach good teams using sub-optimal (aka "fun") builds.

After getting the stuffing beat out of me using humans in the box, playing solid teams (like dwarfs) seems like I was playing cards without any aces or kings. I could win hands but it took a lot of positioning and bluffing. Sometimes lady luck would not smile upon me and I got diced.
I agree in some degree with RC. However, all coaches who want to get better at the game (and make a run at a major) need to play many different teams. Learning how each team ticks is crucial to beating them.

• Read articles on http://bbtactics.com
• Watch great coaches player other great coaches. Try to predict what they will do. Take notes.
• Try every team at least once, knowing your opponent's pain can only come from having had it.
• Don't just grab a beer on your opponent's turn, watch then "think". Predict where the ball will be at the end of the turn. Think of what you could have done if you were them.
• Treat your Star Players for what they are, tool for winning. You're the coach, you can't die, so have little fear for them that can.

Always roll double 6s, then take diving catch instead of +st.

All mens LoS. It may not win you games, but it does win you fans.

If your'e looking to be a better coach, what really helps is watching better coaches. Find some Legends, buddy them, and watch them. Ask questions to other specs, during the game. I don't know how you play. Specific gaming tips, for that reason are not really helpful.

Protect your stars because they're important to winning this game. Don't be afraid to use your stars to win your game. If you don't dare to pile on because of fouling, don't take piling on. If you don't dare to connect good players, don't take sidestep diving tackle. They're only stars because they win you games, otherwise they're just very expensive players.
