Why???
This may be an obvious question, but why is stunty not as popular as the other divisions?

I got to the point of quitting again after a long god awful streak in Ranked. Tried joining a league (KPL) but just wasn't enough. Still loving the KPL but needed to play more.
Then I lost my Legend Wolf Mor-Mid which put me on the edge of leaving. (stupid reason I know).

But then I started to watch coaches like ZED with his awesome flings.
Now I know I couldn't play them, just wouldn't have the patience.

Next I started to watch "Never Bite On The First Date"
A Strigoyan Team coached by Crook666.

Got to remembering my fun days in stunty. Decided to make a team and see if I get the love back.
Low and Behold I have and loving it!
Recently killed the Strig Lord on NBOTFD and a massive mech from a slave team. 99% of the time both coaches enjoy the games. You KNOW every block could result in another cas. (More so than R or Box)

Anyway most games are a lot of fun. Really hope to see more coaches soon

I'm always up a for a stunty one during night times (fumbbl time).
Stunty is not so popular because probably people tend to play too much "seriously" all the time.
They don't know what they miss :)
See you on the pitch!

totally agree, stunty are an awesome challenge for both new and experienced coach, lots of blood (wich mean fun) and a lot of crazy actions also!
Stunty Leeg it's where useless skills take the crown of match killers.
Last but not least, the pitch after a match, simply exciting, burned grass all around, from 5 to 10 blood stains and bench near to collapse. rate6

Well it's certainly not a place for pixel huggers as things get squished more often then not. It's a very brutal division, often run by beastly warriors that kill all they touch, and silly plays with excess dodges and tossed players, etc.. This can unfortunately leave the impression that a stunty match is even more governed by luck then the meanest of CPOMB plug and play box matches. Leaves a more casual feel from all the crazy action than a "competitive" division.

I personally think this is a half truth, and playing stunty can lead to better coaching...
Because of the silly feel, one is not as attached to players, so will learn to play an ironically more advanced level of BB where you'd mark more players than usual not trying to protect/build precious players, thereby not noticing how yr balls have grown (all games outside of tourneys are builders after all). Also how to position better since little dodgy men can come from anywhere. Lastly see the results, get a new perception and appreciation of when you actually roll that many dodges & non-block hits in a game. I hate making a dodge in a non stunty game for the blitz for ex, and getting laden with you got lucky/nuffle favored dice to get there. Sometimes a dodge is a half decent BB move...
Luck is perceived very differently from coach to coach, and playing a game where more dice are rolled than usual helps alter said perception, and brings about a better sense of when to take risks outside of stunty.

After having played and watched many games here, you see the most successful teams/coaches are always well positioned first off before pulling those extra wins out of Nuffle's hat by taking extra risks at the right time. Stunty teaches how to manage the extreme risk plays more so than a not, again I assume because players so easily replaced and not cared about as much.
as keggie would say, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take ;)

blah blah blah, it's not a pure form of BB you weirdo fringe league of made up teams!

i think stunty is one of the greatest gifts we could have, reminds me i should be trying to play there more :>

I played only a few stunty games, but I didn't feel fair any of those. The situation is even worse if I judge by halves. Whoever receives the ball, will most probably dominate the other.

Stunty is pretty forgiving in positioning, since you can get wherever you want on 3+. Plus players get eliminated at such a rate, that positioning is meaningless comparing to "hitting the right player" concept.

The stunt and trick plays are awesome, but the disadvantages are greater than the advantages to me.

Aside from that there is another issue with stunty. And that is not on me, but is universal. The players on stunty rosters have more skills and traits than the regular ones, so coaches just assume it is a more complex game, need to learn more to understand how it works. This perceived complexion puts off new recruits. (To be honest I don't believe that the concept of playing stunty is complex, but there are skills you absolutely need to remember, otherwise you screw yourself.)

You did what now? Chief Sommelier Vlad is dead?! Why is THAT not the topic of this blog? Who cares about the other stuff.

Stunty is a lot of fun and I enjoy it from time to time, but in my opinion it does suffer simply because of the number of divisions on this site. If people already have R teams and B teams and L teams then stunty is often the last to get any attention - people only have so much time. For stunty to be more popular would effectively detract from the popularity of something else.

Stunty is awesome, however the randomness is too high for me.

I would play Stunty much more if there were a Stunty Blackbox. I love getting matched against a random team. Don't like having to find a match and then having the other coach decide he doesn't like the matchup, etc. But playing with the Stunty rosters is great.

Good post Stanley, yes Stunty is great fun, hope it attracts a few more coaches too. Can understand coaches saying it can be a bit random, but all the bombs, chainsaws and other secret weapons are half the fun - in fact it's often hilarious even when you get thrashed. And if you look at the better coaches they still maintain very good records - still plenty of skill involved.

Stunty has a different feel to normal Blood Bowl, there is a finer balance between attack and defence which often makes for good games in my opinion. In normal Bloodbowl high TV sides will build a dedicated ball carrier and cage so he is almost unassailable for the defence in some turns. In Stunty because most players ignore tackle zones, and many can throw team mates, there is arguably a better balance between attack and defence. The defence almost always has some interesting option, and the play really benefits from that I feel. Certainly less stalling, although I don't have a problem with players doing that if it works - just nice to have a ruleset where it isn't as profitable.
