Kruelty Game 38: STREEK!!!
What does a Blood Bowl team do after its first three game win streak? GET NAKED! The victorious Kingston Kruelty team ran their bouncing tackle into their stadium to the sound of a cheering crowd, out to support the team returning from their successful Orcland match-up. The greenskin coach pulled the plug on his home team, conceding after the first half and giving the Kruelty 80'000 gold and their 15'000 human fans the win steak they had been longing for. The orcs received and lost the ball first half, giving up a score to Kingston's ST 4 Blitzer, Brad Brunsen. The orc chainsaw tried it's best to UN-level the playing field the first half, but one KO'd catcher was all it could manage, and the orcs felt unusually non-violent at the half, electing to go and get some much needed gardening done.

The previous two games saw the Kruelty out bash and out ball two Chaos teams. It was obviously much easier to do the latter after the first condition had been satisfied in each case. The Kruelty are putting the Mighty Blow skill to good use, and note that they have been fortunate in two regards during the win streak. Recent coaches have had BWR's in the 150 to sub 150 areas, and the Kruelty have been receiving the ball 1st in most cases against the Chaos beasts. Scoring BEFORE having to sacrifice three souls on the line of scrimmage is a key component to K-Towns winning ways.

A moonlighting Murker has also been taking "Roc Air" flights up to Norsica two evenings a week to coach a Norse team which is doing similarly well. "Folkvardr's 1400" is a norse team surrounded by very similar opponents to the Kingston band.. Chaos, Chaos Dwarves, Pact, Necro and Nurgle.. is there anything else in the box these teams live in? The 1400 have now gone unbeaten in its last ten games, having a pension for the draw, as well as blood and beer. The Murker longs to face graceful and fresh smelling elves once again to try and improve his unimpressive record against agility opponents. Hopefully the flights on the giant eagles his coaching staff are taking several times a week will yield such an opponent soon. (Squishing a 5 KO, 3 cas, Turn 2 concession out of some frogs recently was quite satisfying though)
It is being noticed that consistently running 11 to 13 man rosters is preventing either team from developing any linemen into key players. The LOS keeps taking its toll in the end. The Norse just find the cost of living too high with the AV of 7, and can't get the bank high enough to break out of the 11 man slump. The Kruelty however are going to take a bold step and move up to a 15 man roster, taking the TV near 2000 in the hopes of developing a few linemen with block AND guard, as well as hoping that the higher TV will yield something other than a team that gets to pick and choose its mutations like candy in a Bulk Barn. Here's to facing elves, rats, or hey… let's get really crazy..perhaps some other humans! KEY POINT: I wish the box would pair opponents on TV alone, and not factor in the racial match-up data. I've played less than 60 games and already would like more variety from the box. More importantly, if cookie cutter CLAW teams had to face their own kind more often it would spread the pain around, instead of artificially forcing it onto teams that lack the return fire power in the CAS department. Anyone else agree?

Nice blog mate, and it's good to see a Human team doing well in the [B]ox. I'm not sure about your hopes of seeing more variety at higher TVs though .... from what I hear you tend to find more bashy teams the higher you go. Although, be glad that you're part of the solution and not part of the problem! :)

Do enlighten me. I read the box does not favor pairing humans against humans, chaos vs chaos etc. Obviously the exact math and programming behind the bias is not visible to debate. I think it sucks that a Chaos CLAW team is less likly to face another Chaos CLAW team than my humans are. Pretty simple. I'd like it basesd on TV alone.
