Wreckage yells at news reporter - DLE
Chaos Joerg:Today we interview Superbowl Winner Flashfurts star Headcoach Wreckage, who largely claimed responsibility for the teams success as well as me, the General Manager Chaos Joerg and our only draft pick of the season, Michael Brockers who will be taking over for the excellent first season third pick Ja'Wuan James. We will also talk about the Middenheim Classics who we will play later today at around 21:45 CEST. Perhaps you want to say a few words first, Wreckage?

Wreckage:I suppose. For Middenheim this matchup is essentially back-to-back at this point since they were the last team we played before the play-offs. They released the contract with their old manager and recruited K2, a coach who is virtually unknown in the Blood Bowl world. It will be very hard for us to devise a proper strategy. Middenheim didn't do particularly well first season when it came to team play but they did come with a decent squad that is now even much reinforced since K2 took over. While our own Division KFC North doesn't come along with super strong teams and we only need to place first in our own Division, we know that we don't necessarily have to produce wins against the powerful KFC West teams that include Middenheim. But due to the unpredictability of how well K2 is going to do, it would be absolutely fatal to both underestimate him and to think that we can afford to give this game up because he may end up beating nobody else, which would make us lose points in KFC North if other KFC North teams won where we failed.

Reikland Reporter: Wreckage, you were originally recruited by Flashfurt for your excellent performance with Slann coaching in one of the most recent [NAF]-challenges in Lustria under JimmyFantastics tutelage, where your group failed in the playoffs against the imperial coach squad Team Hellhound. But your Slann still ended up winning the group. How is it to be back in the Empire and to be coaching humans once more?

Wreckage: Well, I wouldn't say I was actually under JimmyFantastics tutelage. I have been a traveling coach for most of my life and basically worked my way up from nowhere. I have slept in old taverns with Ghouls and Zombies and all that and I have not only coached Slann but a wide variety of races in my life. I'm still not entirely sure where I stand although I'm probably a known quantity in this part of the world by now. I suppose Flashfurt which is one of the few Universities that doesn't run a youth squad but only holds ownership of a professional team felt like recruiting somebody with a more academic approach to the game. I'm probably more well known for the release of the Thousand-Losses-Playbook these days.
As for teaching humans, it's not my favorite thing to do but there is so much money in the Empire and in Blood Bowl here in general, gold is pouring in from all ends, it's hard to say no when you're offered a job.

Hochland Reporter: Michael Brockers and perhaps Wreckage, why do you think you were drafted and what can you give to the team?

Michael Brockers: Ahm, I like art but I'm not an artist. You know I'm not drawing anything or you know but I can picture it in my head... and I feel like tatoos are an expression of you know, what you feel, you know, what you believe in. I have a lion, you know, a majestic animal. And I feel like when you feel like a majestic animal, you know, that's what you are. The opponent is the prey. Middenheim is the prey. I have my mom and my wife and my grandmother as tatoos, you know, the three women in my life. Thank you.

Wreckage: Yeah, why we recruited him. That would be more of a question for the GM but I admit that I was very actively involved in the decision process and am largely responsible for the decision to trade out of the season. I basically told Joerg that we want to keep the squad small that we want only the best players. As the top performing team we just couldn't get any at reasonable trade costs. I could not reveal that during the draft and I'm sorry I disappointed fans with that decision but I feel that it is very important as we move forward to be focusing on a small squad of elite players.

Chaos Joerg: Basically what we found to be lacking in season 1 was a real cage breaking option after talking to Wreckage, since human teams normally don't provide that but as a coach he is used to have that from other races.
And we felt that Michael Brockers was not only the best answer to the problem but also was a player we never had to replace again. Basically I argued in the decision to recruit him that that we won't be getting a better deal on that position to recruit this sort of player and that it was just now or never. But I'd appreciate if you did not leave me alone with explaining these difficult decisions.

Wreckage: Yeah, like the stupid idea to make me quit if I don't make playoffs. Totally my idea, right?

Reikland Reporter: Actually that is an interesting topic. What was that decision actually about?

Wreckage:None of your damn business.

Middenheim Reporter: About your general strategy against Middenheim. Have you already decided who will be playing? Will Michael Brockers play? What is your general opinion about Middenheim?

Wreckage: Yes Michael will certainly play both halves, given he doesn't recieve any injuries. About the other players I can't really tell at the moment, it will largely depend on their physical form. Of course John Lynch will be set, Mike Evans will be set, everyone else is pretty much up for game.
What was the other part of the question? Yeah right, Middenheim. As I said before, we have great respect for Middenheim, they are a great team and we will try our best and just see what happens.

Reikland Reporter: De'Anthony Thomas was one of the players that was drafted into the All-Star-Team of the KFC, he didn't play even fifty percent of any game on your squad, even tho he is a fan favorite, will you bring him more often?

Wreckage: These are coaching decisions better left with the professionals and not with the fans. I have the best idea about the state of my players.

Reikland Reporter: In game six of the season you will be facing off against the Altdorf Thunderbolts, what are your plans for the game and are you prepared to deal with a steam tank?

Wreckage:Yeah, I have heard about the idea of a steam tank. No, we are not expecting to see one and we haven't really prepared for the game yet. We are taking one opponent at a time and our full focus is on Middenheim right now and then on our next encounter with the Patriots in game 2. We're not thinking about game 6 right now.

Hochland Reporter:Just to come back on the offer to leave Flashfurt if the team isn't making playoffs. Are you actually going to go through with it? I mean, you are the reigning champion, we would be sad to see you go.

Wreckage:.....

Chaos Joerg: Yes, it is 100% true. It is not unusual for a coach to be measured by his performance and Wreckage feels like it would not be appropriate to block the spot for a better coach in case he fails to meet that basic goal. Which was by the way also the goal given by the club for the first season.

Wreckage:Yeah right, goal given by the club is probably the more appropriate description. The truth is they just want me gone because they feel I have a poor attitude for the way I talked to Meanandugl. How could I know that guy has such a lobby behind him.

Reikland Reporter: You called Meanandugl an ugly infectious stinking Bretonnian immigrant...

Wreckage:I HAVE NEVER CALLED MEANANDUGL UGLY!

Reikland Reporter:Ok, first of, we have several reporters confirming that you indeed called him ugly and second I feel like you're missing the point here a bit.

Wreckage:The point is that dumb media people like you just twist around everything other people say and that you have no idea what you're talking about and I feel just totally misrepresented. I'll sue you.

Chaos Joerg: Thanks that concludes the session for today. We will be taking questions from you again soon.
