First error: Playing B if you don't want to be lamed? :)

So I take it you lost the game?
Posted by happygrue on 2012-12-19 23:26:34
There is nothing lame here, sir, this is a delightful technique - to be loved and employed by all!

It's all fair by the rules. Maybe them dudes have tiny willies and need to compensate somehow.
You guys should show more compassion.

Yeah, 25 games played and the highest TV played is 119. Quite boring and dumb. Yeah I understand the community has to benefit overall, unfortunately some coaches just care too much about their CR.
Box is broken, too bad I can rarely get matches in ranked, I guess thats why the Box will always live....

Rules were made by a bunch of people clearly unaware of the ways to exploit them.
Fair by the rules doesn't mean really fair if the rules are silly and bad designed.

The weirdest part is that several of these coaches are actually pretty good at the game.

Only one solution, nearly rookie dwarf teams with all longbeards and one runner. Take MB on everyone that skills. Do this until you've scared the amazons out of your time zone.

Jasfmpgh has the truth of it.
Short men with excessive facial hair are an Amazon's blind date nightmare.

@hamster
yeah, what you said doesn't apply here.

@Matt Hmmm. The game rules don't mention TV based match making anywhere. That is a house rule and no TV matched leagues sent any test data.
House rules made the problem. House rules have to fix it.
The game wasn't designed for Box/MM at all.

@ Jasfmpgh
Right now the scheduler looks at the race of each team before it sets the schedule. Because dwarfs and zons are such a bad match-up for zons, the scheduler is more likely to pair the zons with another opponent if it can, rather than dwarfs.
This is what I feel needs to change to help fix Box. Just a more simple scheduler that looks at TV alone, even though TV isn't perfect. But it's better than a system that protects predators from their natural enemies.

Nice idea but a plague of dwarves will probably scare off more people than a couple of zon teams.

Kaodah, would you say that providing that link in this context falls under the header of 'name and shame'? =D

I'm promoting my leagues dude.
Folk that win stuff should be encouraged to brag about it.
There's not enough bragging IMO :)

@Koadah:
TV means Team Value and it should be truly representative of the power of the team.
MM concept is fine in itself, TV is not accurate.
If TV were an accurate value then MM would be fine and each team would be balanced at every TV.
Badly designed rosters and "teams'win rate balance over time" concept are other flaws.

... Thanks for the game :D

@KFoged
But you were a top geezer. ;)

@MattDakka
It's not going to be accurate across all the teams at all TVs.
And be nice and simple to calculate for table top.
Try asking Christer about TS. ;)
It could be better but it's not going to be accurate.
Posted by MattDakka on 2012-12-20 17:43:54
@Koadah: a more accurate TV is anyway better than a less accurate TV.
I would ask Christer, but I know he would not listen to.
