Ulthuan Invitational is open!
Each year, teams from across the globe undertake a perilous sea voyage to the Isles of Ulthuan. Many are invited, but only a few teams successfully navigate the misty seas that surrounds the magical Elven Isles. As the teams arrive at the Outer Isles, they compete for one of the 16 magical Phoenix Lanterns that will guide them towards the heart of Ulthuan. Once brought together, the light from the Lanterns dispel the once impenetrable mists to reveal the legendary Asur Dome. Under the bright Phoenix Lanterns, the remaining 16 teams compete for the coveted Ulthuan Invitational Prize. The tournament winner receives blood bowl gear infused with potent elven magic made from Vaul's Forge. Tournament draw starts 22.00pm server time Wednesday 20th March 2019 Any Ranked or Blackbox team can apply here for the LIGHT QUALIFIER. Any Ranked or Blackbox team can apply here for the DARK QUALIFIER. (If you applied before today you will need to re-apply as I booted your teams to start fresh.) Prizes As with all Major Tournaments, there will be monetary prizes awarded to each team for winning their matches and 50,000 for winning the tournament. This gold is automatically added to your team roster after the result is uploaded and will not appear in the match report. In addition to this cash reward, the tournament winner will receive mystical blood bowl gear crafted from Vaul's Forge. For the Ulthuan Invitational XV, Vaul will craft the following pieces. Any two chosen by the winning coach from Boots of Var Cor (Leap+DP 30TV), Helmet of Fear (Foul Appearance 20TV) and Gloves of Almost Thievery (+AG, Strip Ball, No Hands 40TV) will go to the winning team. |

When the order was passed to Vaul to produce three items that would serve as prizes for the upcoming Bloodbowl Tournament, the magic smith set out to his legendary treasure chambers. He passed the Golden Armour of Immortality, ran his fingers over the Titan Bracers of Killing Blows and inspected the storied Boots of Divine Speed. It took him half an hour to reach the forgotten and dusty far corner of his halls, where there was an old wooden crate which was once used to store the potatoes for the winter in and now bore all the failed and miserable artifacts that no elf with the smallest rest of self-esteem would ever come to wear. So what do we have, he thought to himself, rummaging through the baubles. Oh, a helmet that gives the wearer Faoul Appearance! Gnihihi, that's a good one. Ahahaha, and the PaulHicks-boots that can make a Troll leap and foul, LOL yeah, that's a classic! What else... Bwahahaha Gloves that give +ag and no hands!! Ahahaha perfect!! Mission complete.
No wonder the UI will never surpass the GLT in terms of prestige if the self-serving elves keep their good stuff to themselves. ;)

Yeah, the prizes look a bit iffy.
Let's be honest though. There's only a handful of coaches that might potentially be impacted by that :P

I have a funny feeling that Dwarves will have the most entries in Light, while Nurgle will have the most entries in the Dark

Those prizes look well balanced to me, enough reward in winning it anyway. We don't really want any more broken teams like that dwarf one with the one-turner skink, or the lizzies who just won again at the WO with a Str6 saurus - do we? Not that I have any truck with the coaches of those teams of course they didn't make the rules, but the prizes mustn't break the game. Looks like the tourney admins are considering this more carefully now and imo that's a good thing.
