My knowledge is limited in the dongle department, but I have heard a few grumblings from a few different fumbbl coaches about them being pretty rubbish for playing ffb on due to their tendancies to drop connection a lot.
Hopefully I am missinformed :)

I use a vodafone one. Pay as you go. Fine for normal browsing but not tried streaming videos on it.
£7 a month roughly for several hours a day online.

nice. i care not for streaming video, I just want to be able to play fumbbl in the evenings instead of having to play in Cafe Nero like a leper during 9-5.
i can use the horrible firewalled wireless for everything else (except torrenting, dammit!).

It gives 2 hours a day for a month nearly for £10.00
I use one a lot and it rarely fails. Vodaphone was no good.
Depends on your area though, been using it for 4 years now

Don't buy a dongle
use your smart phone as a modem by tethering

also, any 3G connection will be a bit ropey and you'll disconnect during games quite frequently.
it'll also be slower, such that your turns will take 3-4 mins most of the time

i'm in the uk for only 2 months, so I'm not buying a smartphone for that time.
i can live with occasional DCs...
off to get a dongle today...
