Team creation update
For a couple of days, I've been working a bit on a new procedure to create teams. The old way is a bit dry and dull, and I figured it'd be easy enough to make something a bit more exciting and give me a way to display the amazing work done by Mr_foulscumm and Qaz with the racial logos.

You can see the system take form in the team creation page. Note that it's not actually possible to create teams there at the time of writing, but you'll be able to see what I'm planning to do on a conceptual level.

There are a couple of missing logos (which I'm hoping to resolve "soon"), and you'll also see that there's a very short placeholder text description of each race. Now, this latter aspect is something I don't have an immediate solution to at this point since I'm not exactly a copywriter by trade.

This is where you guys come in though. If there's someone out there who's good at writing short introductions to each race, I'd be very very happy to accept suggestions on what to put in that space for each race. As always this absolutely can not be copyrighted material and should ideally be consistent across the teams.

There are a couple of possible approaches. The obvious approach would be to have an objective text, explaining the basics of the team and have a "narrator" approach to the whole thing. Another way would be to go "in character" with one of the players. Imagine a GLN reporter asking a team member to explain what the race is all about, and have a quote listed there with the same information but with a racial feel to it. This would then be attributed as a quote from an imaginary player in a literary style:

"Blah blah blah"

I sort of like this latter approach, even though it (to me) seems like a harder thing to write. Coming up with characters for each race is probably pretty tough. Plus, it requires a touch of humour that will stay fresh over time.

Anyone out there who think they could do it? Perhaps a group effort could be initiated?

Let me know what you think of the team creation thing as a whole, and this description concept in particular.

I can do this description thing (in character style). If you give me 30 hours, I should be able to get all races up to a level that at least can be published for editing/criticism. If it's actually all races, Chaos Pact might stumble me a bit.

Also open to your/the sites consensus on whether I need to stick to Grandma Wendy's voices (I particularily dis-like the Skaven but am willing to bow to consensus).

Prefered method of delivery? Forum? Here? PM?

The little close icon is brilliant it fits very well with the cartoony/american football iconography look of the logos do you have a whole icon set of that type?

Gun idea with the dice i like that touch but maybe add a durability and mobility score too it as well?

Should note that Strength and Agility ratings seem more geared to "Ability to hurt opponent" and "Ability to score" than based on the ST and AG stats of the team. Wonder if a name change is in order?

the consensus in the chat when this came up was that clawpomb requires dedication - and if you watch other teams (say you play against developed dorfs with your new chaos team) you might be tempted to try guard and tackle. Also, many new people think that since there are lots of skills, that you probably want variety. So getting into the WMD frame of mind for a true clawpomber takes a little bit. (Of course, it's very simple once you're there.)

But mainly, clawpombers don't really come online until after a decent number of games, so again, for a newcomer, they aren't simple. In fact, at first, they can be rather poor.

Physique is roughly a measure of strength/armour
Fitness is a measure of agility and movement
Simplicity is a measure of how easy it is to play them relatively well (from a newcomer perspective).

Love it.

Obviously geared towards new players, I feel the dice scores are a tricky thing. They would be most relied on by non-english speakers, and I feel might guide a significat portion of noob team selections in one direction.. towards STRENGTH.

I would't try any team I saw a 1 ST in front of, and I feel I would be missing out on doing well early with woodies and skaven, etc. and perhaps being frustrated with slow orcs or dwarfs who can't score against half a defense.

FUN looking yes, but the scores look too extreeme and I feel give bad info, as that info changes quickly with TV increases.

You could do it better with words. A very basic strategy outline that does well in Google translator. ie:

HUMANS: Be adaptable. If the enemy is softer, hit hard. If the enemy is slow, move quickly around him.
