FUMBBL Dice?
I've recently been approached a couple of times with questions regarding the availability of FUMBBL block dice for sale. In the last couple of years, spubbbba has been taking care of these dice drives (running roughly once per year). I had a chat with him about this, and it turns out the company he used to get them made is no longer operational, and with him being based in the UK, Brexit is generating a bit of craziness in terms of shipping and managing dice in general.

Therefore, I have been considering to make a run of dice myself. There is a fair amount of work involved in this, and before I commit to this, I'd like to do a post about it here and see if there is enough interest to make it happen. The company I've been looking at to make the dice has a roughly 45 day production time after which the dice need to be hand painted. As a very rough guideline, I can maintain the same price spubbbba quoted before which was the equivalent of $20 per set of 3 dice plus shipping (UK shipping would probably increase, while others would likely remain the same as before).

There would be the option of different colours (pricing changes somewhat for translucent or pearlescent options), but more dice per set reduces the production price somewhat meaning there would need to be a certain amount of interest for me to do anything but solid black dice (that being said, they have a translucent black option that looks great in their renders).

Given the early stage of this, I'm not looking at taking orders or anything at this point (in fact, if this goes ahead, I'll have to order padded envelopes as well). We're looking at maybe September for potential shipments.

TLDR here is: Would you be interested in one or more sets of FUMBBL block dice if I were to make them available at around $20 per set plus shipping (maybe $25 for fancier options such as pearlescent or translucent). With no commitment, indications as to number of sets and/or colours you'd be interested in would also be appreciated and allow me to potentially come up with a more concrete plan.

i would get 1 set, default colour would be fine with me
Posted by TheBarmyBrit on 2021-06-14 14:38:26
If you could ship to the UK, I would get them in a heartbeat!
Posted by Christer on 2021-06-14 14:39:35
Yes, I could ship practically globally. Mind you, I have no control over import fees and they would (if any) be on top of the cost.

I'd be up for it too! Default colour works, but happy with anything
Posted by Squiz on 2021-06-14 15:19:09
I would at least get two sets, depending on colour options maybe 3. I'm EU based, if that's relevant for statistics or such.

I would love to get both blocking dice and also d6s or d8s with fumbbl related things on them. All in all, put me down as a repeat customer

I am definitely interested in getting at least one set of them. Thanks for even considering to take this into your own hands - as if there already wasn't enough work to do for you.
Posted by MrCushtie on 2021-06-14 16:30:17
I'd take at least two sets
Posted by grant85 on 2021-06-14 16:35:44
I would be interested in 1-2 sets. My preference would be for them to be different than past runs but I'll be down no matter what. All that being said, I wish there wasnt more being added to your plate. You busy enough!

My Fumbbl T-shirts will not fall apart for a few years yet but it is a long time since I would wear them outside.

Just saying'. ;)
Posted by howlinggriffon on 2021-06-14 19:33:14
I would be interested but depends on the import tax amounts for UK.
Posted by garyt1 on 2021-06-14 20:11:48
I think for UK you can import up to 135 GBP worth without customs fees.

Anything delivered from outside North America worth over $20 is taxed in Canada (and if using couriers like UPS they charge excessive processing fees too. Government (Canada post) mail don't).

yeah, its time for more dice. :)

i have last year work my dice with chessex. that was very fast, nice colors (5 colors in one order at the same diceprice) and i find also a nice price.

Posted by DrClaes on 2021-06-15 08:02:54
Would also buy a set or two
Posted by ceetee on 2021-06-15 09:10:59
Definitely in. Any colour works, but default plus a few options would be great. Thanks for this.
Posted by csk73 on 2021-06-15 10:16:59
I would buy a set too
Posted by Raztout on 2021-06-15 11:44:42
Hi! Great initiative, I know we are two here in France definitely excited to get a set once available :)
Posted by The_Squigadier on 2021-06-15 14:12:17
Hi Christer, thanks for this. I would be interested in a set; fancy (translucent) sounds great, but if there is only solid black available that is also good. Would some of these funds also go towards FUMBBL? I am hoping so :)
Posted by Jeffro on 2021-06-15 17:09:46
Translucent black sounds pretty darn cool.

For what it's worth - Jack Petrucha of Maelstrom Mats in Canada has started custom dice. So I'm not sure if you've settled on a manufacturer, but Jack is a quality individual (and who I'm using for the NAF's Chaos Cup).

I'm in regardless.
Posted by Bobs on 2021-06-16 12:54:13
Yep i'd be in for 2-3 sets depending on colours.
Posted by bowzer on 2021-06-16 13:30:58
Yes, count me in! 1-2 sets depending on postage to UK.
Posted by Sharper on 2021-06-16 13:35:08
Yep, keen for 1-2 sets. Would be interested in coloured dice, rather than white.
Posted by Throweck on 2021-06-16 20:00:24
Definitely!
Posted by Christer on 2021-06-16 23:42:25
Quick update:

I've ordered a prototype set from the company I mentioned in the blog entry. If the dice look good, I'll go ahead with getting more sets created and offer to everyone who wants them. Probably some kind of preorder type thing. Obviously, there will be separate posts about the order process if it turns out well.
Posted by Nicodaz on 2021-06-18 15:54:03
Add me for one set of each.
Posted by CrookfangRob on 2021-06-18 17:09:32
