Just noticed that I passed the 3000 games bound. I started playing FUMBBL in october 2012 from my hometown in Italy, when I couldn't even imagine my life would have changed like this. I didn't plan to become a wandering expat pursuing jobs all around Europe, my life was pretty settled up back then and traveling just a distant chance, something you dream about when you're in the mood for adventures. I moved to England in 2013 and I continued playing FUMBBL from there, then moved to Ireland in 2014 and played too. Now I have been in Portugal for almost one year and a half, already changed two cities, and here I burned my game number 3000.
Damn, so much has changed. I saw places, from the dirties alleys of the South End of London to the green fields of Dundalk where the cows seem painted against the horizon, I became a regular in all Temple Bar pubs in Dublin and had romantic dinners in restaurants by the Douro river in Porto. I heard the awful noise that the Spire makes in O'Connell Street when the wind blows like a beast over Dublin and climbed a thousand steps up to the monastery of Bom Jesus that dominates the Portuguese city of Braga. I smoked cigarettes at late night on abandoned chairs on the Thames shores, slept in a flat just over the Guinness factory, got wasted in Lisbon and missed a plane, had a swim in the Atlantic Ocean in August and found out the water temperature was freezing enough to burn your skin. I met friends, enemies, lovers, bartenders, musicians, drunkards, lunatics, fake hippies, real criminals, rich men, poor boys, and more. And all the time, FUMBBL was with me.
I had several phases on here. I ragequit a couple of times, I became unpolite for a while, I stopped playing for few months, I came back, I retired teams, I built teams again. Eventually I became more relaxed and that was the moment in which my gaming skills improved a bit. I was terrible for at least three years, then I actually started to understand how to play and these days I give a good fight to my opponent in almost all games. I also managed to win the Stunty Cup, my only accomplishment in a major so far.
I saw things change in FUMBBL. I saw a very good FUMBBL Birthday day with star players created by the features of the admins, I saw Stunty Leeg rising high and decline, I saw my biggest dream, the Secret League, become real.
So, well, this is it. Life's always spinning at crazy speed when you live like me, but it's good to have this game when you want to slow down, it's like an old friend following you around.
So thanks FUMBBL and the people running it, and sorry if I was a bit of a nuisance some times.
Cheers from Portugal.
See you all on the pitch.
