Absolutely fine swampserpent. Its public domain.

J.P.Kinney could write, no doubt about that!
But I can't get past the false equivalence that pervades this poem. There isn't an equal share of resources, there isn't an equal share of guilt, there isn't an equal share of responsibility.

Lol Arthur, its not about equality.
The false equivalence lies more in the nature of everyday sharing. In a market you offer, to have gain. Win win. Its worrysome when so many people dont even believe in win win situations anymore.

But that's the thing. It's easy to say that people don't believe in mutual aid for mutual benefit anymore, but it's not true. There are a lot of people working to help each other in just that way. But then there are some greedy people who hoard resources, and some who are so hateful that they'd rather starve than eat, as long as their enemies starve with them.
Those are the people who are to blame. It's not a symmetrical issue.

your right Arthur, there isnt.
But we can all do something. We can all be better. And we can try to overcome that which stops us doing those things.
And Menona i dont have an issue with reciprocation, but not everything needs to have a gain for you. I dont march for BLM to get woke credits, or status, or Kudos, i marched because we all should, because we can be better. Because Im tired of fighting a fight that should be long over, and I dont want my kids having to do the same when they grow up.
'Did nought except for gain' doesnt mean never gain, but it does mean that shouldnt be your only motivation. Sometimes we should just do things because they need doing, because they are right.

Very clever, and apt, and I love the ending.

Pretty damn bleak setting for that poem. I can't help but think, in this situation, because things seem so utterly hopeless anyway, that all that these miserable bastards have to cling to at the end is their own ugly viewpoint.
"If we're all dead anyway, I'm not going to be the one to go soft. Not in this company."
Perhaps partly a commentary on the dangers of hopelessness.
