Blake was born 14/04/09 at 10:49. Weighing 8lb 9oz.

He is happy and healthy and all is well. With our history of 2 tries that didnt work last year. We are enormously grateful for that.

Sadly the same was not true of my beautiful wife. They struggled for over an hour to get the epidural in, and that meant constant pain and discomfort. Then the ceasarian went fine, but as the midwife and I were cleaning my son up, Jen went into convulsions and anaphylactic shock. It took repeated Adrenaline shots and sedation for the surgeons to close up and after 7 such sedations and relapses on coming to, she wasnt getting any better. They changed everything to the least reactive agents they had in case it was allergic reaction. But it just kept on happening. We had 4-5 very senior Consultants all looking really concerned and starting to repeat protocols that clearly hadnt worked the first time. Her pulse and Blood pressure were all over the place. It was really starting to look very bad indeed. Eventually they had to Shoot a line directly into her neck and push continuous adrenaline. With that, sedation and oxygen she finally started to stabilise, 2 hrs 30mins after the birth of our son. Those were not good hours. i wouldnt wish them on anyone.

12hrs later they were able to step down, and then off, the adrenaline, and this morning she came off oxygen and is feeling a great deal better. There is now no reason to expect a relapse, and while we still dotn know what caused the problems, large free ranging batteries of tests are being done. I am certain she will be just fine.
