NBFL AFC South Draft Grading Roundtable
Titannesse Kraken’s
Nurgle, GotrekSlayer
Last Season: 2-7-4.
Assets: 4 Bloaters, 3 Pestigors and a serviceable 4th, 1 Rotter.
Needs: Rotspawn, maybe a Pestigor. A good Rotter would be okay in a pinch.
Draft Capital: 12, 44.
#12 Jimm Stillwagon [OH], Rotspawn. Guard, Pro, Block, 31 SPP.
#44 Hal Headstone [NV], Rotter. Block, Dirty Player, [Skill], 37 SPP.
GPA: 3.00
* ArrestedDevelopment: B
If you pick a big guy, and in Titannesse's shoes, you really might, then this was the best big on the board when you got there. I personally might not have. Rotter pick is meh, here's the thing about a DP - wrestle is a better skill than block to have, and dodge is potentially better than both, but when we get closer to 3 skills we're basically not wanting to have DP. When Titannesse picked there not just blodge +1 players left, there were dodge +skill, and also merely 2x skill and DP +skill picks. In this spot we think you take the blodge +skill or the 2x skill rolls and gamble on guard.
* Arcayn: B+
Best Big on the Board is great. A Rotter who can Block and foul, is not bad.
* Kzarik: B
Getting a block/guard/pro Beast makes moving the thing around and keeping it where you want it a little easier. Expensive fouler for nurgle with the next one. Still, in a very high TV environment, the big targets are also more expensive.
* Dashergeaux: C
I love that rotspawn so much, but that was and easy choice. I just hate the 2nd pick. There will be other rotters with DP and it could have been a blodger or kicker, or just a guy with 2 +ST (it's only a couple of rolls away)
* ex-convict: A-
Getting a Big with two double rolls at #12 is a great find, and getting a rotter who can both block and foul (with another skill tbd) is also good.
* Jeffro:
Stillwagon was instrumental in the culture of getting unemployed college grad townies chicks to take classes for THE team in exchange for sexual favors that they video and sell rights to on the internet. A legacy in and of itself.
Indianapolis Hippies
Vampire, asteflix
Last Season: 5-3-6 (in Denver). Playoffs: #4 seed, 0-1.
Assets: 4 statty Vamps, 2 okay Vamps, a decent Thrall.
Needs: nothing, really.
Draft Capital: 22, 54.
Trades: #22 and #54 traded up to get #11.
#11 Don Quey [BUFF], Vampire. +MA, Block, Tackle, Dodge, 51 SPP.
GPA: 3.44
* ArrestedDevelopment: B
Solid enough pick. We might have taken Zorn "Greater Scaup" Hunter and added yet another +ag to the team, but that really comes down to what kind of vamp you wanted. There's literally nothing else to do here with a board that wasn't great for vamps.
* Arcayn: A+
Made what was possibly the best trade of the draft and took a player that will be a valuable part of the team. Best Draft Management of this conference and possibly the entire league.
* Kzarik: B+
Vamps like speed and that seems like a reasonable upgrade. Kudos for avoiding the lineman.
* Dashergeaux: B+
Took advantage of trade down fever to get a stud that will help. I'm not sure the +MA is as good as the + St guys that were still on the board, but it's only the 2nd +MA on the team and can be useful.
* ex-convict: B+
Indy moved up to acquire yet another vampire with a stat, this time +MA. Maybe they'll do better this season with some improved luck.
* Jeffro:
Asteflix sounds how I would expect someone who has a Pepe the frog avatar to sound.
Houston T-Rexans
Lizardman, Bazakastine
Last Season: 7-7-0. Playoffs: #1 seed, 0-1.
Assets: 4 good Sauri and one okay one, some awesome Skinks.
Needs: Kroxigor, Saurus.
Draft Capital: 27, 59.
Trades: #27 and #59 traded up to get #21.
#21: Udom Umoh [VAMP], Skink. +AG, Block, Sure Hands, 38 SPP.
GPA: 3.32
* ArrestedDevelopment: B
Houston trade up to get another extreme stud skink. Did they need one? Actually, yes. Bloodwin's days are counted, like any skink's, and frankly the rest of the skink department is bloaty trash. There were some solid saurus picks left, but nothing the front office can't produce themselves.
* Arcayn: A+
This is the strongest competitor for the title I just handed out. Again this coach traded up to get his man. This time possibly even more valuable than the other, but didn't move as far (although he didn't need to)
* Kzarik: B
Houston gets another AG4 skink to play with. That does make Lizarding easier and Bazakastine continues his luck with another Saurus rolling +ST,+ST.
* Dashergeaux: B
I don't think Baz needed to trade up here to get a player. He might have gotten this guy, but would have been assured a nice new Saurus. This seems like drafting Doug Bloodwin's replacement (thus ensuring this season is the death of Doug)
* ex-convict: B+
Houston likewise moved up when a perfect skink prospect fell in the draft; however, their bigger needs were in the trenches, and Udom could potentially take away touches from the league's Fan Favorite. Or Dirt Bag. Is he both? Whatever. We want Bloodwin!!!
* Jeffro:
Udom Umoh Imvula Imvula - Chapha, chapha, chapha - Imanz'impahla yam' - Gqum, Gqum, Liyaduduma. It's a traditional African Rain Chant. Look it up, slackers.
Jakesonville Jortles
High Elf, mrt1212
Last Season: 5-8-0. Playoffs: #5 seed, 3-1. AFC Champion.
Assets: 1 Blitzer, 4 Catchers, 2 Throwers, several interesting Linemen.
Needs: 1 Blitzer (to replace J. Rob), Linemen.
Draft Capital: 31, 63.
#31 Jim Otis [OH], Lineman. Tackle, Kick, Frenzy, [skill], 52 SPP.
#63 Colson Yankoff “Your Pants” [UDUB], Lineman. Dauntless, Block, Frenzy, 36 SPP.
GPA: 2.86
* ArrestedDevelopment: C+
Two frenzy linos. Oh dear who on earth wou..... Oh it's Jakesonville. Really, there's nothing on the board here, and Jakesonville pick up two players who basically do the same thing. Fair enough.
* Arcayn: B-
I am a huge fan of Frenzy and love the players chosen here. However, I believe that this coach should have found a way to replace his aging, crippled blitzer. It would have been better management to do so, but the players he got were value for where they were picked.
* Kzarik: C
Jortles already have a frenzy thrower and now will have 2 more frenzy line elves. MRT likes his teams to resemble a swiss army knife and with a big elf team you really are just adding skills. I think I might have replaced the slow blitzer instead.
* Dashergeaux: A
I really like both these guys and think they were great value. Not much else to do with really late picks.
* ex-convict: B+
Though they could not find a suitable replace for their still-useful quad -MA blitzer, the Jortles were able to add two more lineman that just increase the number of tools in their toolbox.
* Jeffro:
BEST name in the draft. Easy. Guaranteed that Jim Otis will also haze him by screaming his name from behind as he depants him. Possibly twice a day.
