When
Nugi "Thunderbolt" Anvilcutter got niggled in her first match, I knew she'd have no future on the team. However, with the
Ulthuan Invitational coming up, I kept her anyway, since I figured I'd most likely not be able to replace her
and buy the two additional blockers I eagerly wanted for the bench.
Yesterday, in her third match, she was killed right after she had scored a touchdown (bringing her to 4 SPP). It was Nuffle's way to enforce a postponed decision. It was so clear... but alas, I was a fool and used my apo on her, who did a good job (as almost always) and brought her back for the next drive.
Nuffle obviously didn't like such heresy and found a way to punish me in a rather sinister way: In turn 15 my rapidly rising star runner
Aegil "The Cursed One" Ironbones got seriously injured: -AG!
Well, as always, Nuffle's ways are ingenious. Aegil obviously is (was) not only a great thrower, he also is the team's dedicated sacker (somehow my slayers, if not
killed, refuse to skill up). Even with lower agility, he is far from useless - but it stings, oh it does!
To be fair, it was a great match for Aegil. His achievements:
1. Five completions in one match - "Quarterback"
FUMBBL Badge for him! The second badge for
a player on his team.
2. Five SPP, exactly the amount needed to become his team's fourth super-star ever. He rolled normal and took Strip Ball, focussing on his now primary role as a sacker.
3. He finally (after 25 matches) became
all-time top dwarven passer (two completions ahead of
Tricnor Torch Carrier now)!
Well, I guess I'll enter the UI with the team as it is right now. Nuffle has punished me twice. And he doesn't like prep matches. I hope he
does like my plan to win the UI in the Agility Monsters' 100th match though... ;-)
