Coaching Rating Math
Does anyone know where a fella, can find the team strength? In the above linked equation, I am referring to the dT portion. I like doing the match and want to know how Fumbbl grades teams. I saw the interesting Blog neoliminal wrote out. I now know how he rates the teams, How does Fumbbl rate them according to that equation? Team vs team, Race vs Race, Blah Blah is harder vs Blah Blah. Enquiring mind would like to know.
Basically, I enjoy watching my CR changing. I find it interesting to know more about the why, when, what, where, and how of the Math regarding ranking development. Im curious about specifics regarding the significant changes, when beating a coach or losing to a coach. One time, I dropped 8 points after one loss (which wasn't recently.)
It perks my interest, because I've seen some really good coaches at lower CRs, and I've seen lame Ducks in the High. I am higher now, but I wasn]t always. I started noting the differences from the Higher CR coaches and myself. I realized it came to team building. My play on the field was better than average, but my team building was terrible. So, after some off handed advice I started building the teams more generically. With some Luck, and change of habit, my CR has gone up 10 points. 162 range.
I started watching during this time my CR change up and down. I've stuck to using one race, and built it relatively generic, to see the changes. I have been using Chaos Dwarves for my short run.The things I've noted are My CR typically will go down slightly if I tie a game. Doesn't really matter if I tie vs a low CR coach or a High CR coach. It typically goes slightly down. My conclusion is that CDs must be rated higher on Fumbbl's race ranking system. Higher than most other teams. Im not sure of the CR differences for losses and wins yet. That actually spurred this question.
Heres the other interesting point. If Ranked and Box are the 2 divisions that effect CR, then explain this.
My total CR=keggiemckill 586 (49) 229/116/241 162.87
My ranked CR=keggiemckill 374 (47) 141/70/163 157.59
My Box CR=keggiemckill 212 (52) 88/46/78 159.36
How do those 2 add up to the 162.87? The math isn't making sense, to me with the combined 2 divisions. It probably will make more sense once I have all the elements to the equations. Urgo, Fumbbl's dT.

You do realise that you have 51 different CR ratings right?
The overall CR includes all of them and not just the B & R ratings.

Christer decided to make the new formular for CR not public anymore.
He also answerd the question regarding the racial CR in countless threads, so it should be simple enough to find.
Can't really answer it since it never botherd me enough to pay attention or care.

coach rating should be hidden from other coaches as in ranked people avoid higher coaches, and higher coaches avoid other higher coaches x x x

There are actually 75 rankings per coach. :)
The reason for your differing rankings is that they're all independent. Let's say that winning an "equal" match gives you 1 CR. You start with 150 CR of all types, and play as follows:
1. Win in R, taking your overall CR to 151 and your R CR to 151.
2. Win in B, taking your overall CR to 152 and your B CR to 151.
You'll then have an overall CR of 152 and R and B CRs both at 151.
This very simple concept of the CRs being independent makes this really hard to understand for some people, and this is long before the real complexities of the system are added.

One thing that I find interesting is that 150 reflects an above average coach under the current system (also, a coach who just joined the site). Current average looks closer to 146-147.

That may be true Kohdah, but that rankings graph was much more evenly distributed around 150 when I joined, and now it has seemed to stabilize several points lower than that. And given that we now see a peak at 150 I wonder if it would continue to drift downward without a continued infusion of coaches entering at 150?

I think CR has changed since then.
I haven't play much recently but every Box game seems to be someone 160+.
Hopefully that is because everyone is playing in the Rookie and Holiday Leagues :D

CR is a very imperfect tool. No one outside of Christer knows how it is calculated. Also there are the many abuses of picking in ranked or box.
That all said - it is a fun tool to look at. It is also fun to look at the top 30 or so and wonder who is for real and who is just a picker :P

I play 99% Box. Thanks for some of the comments, because it does help me understand it a bit better.I knew the ranking formula wasn't exactly the way it was working out. CR is broken if you take it as a full assessment to the quality of coaches. I don't. It is fun for me to follow my friends from TT and compare myself to them.
Im a mild math junkie, and its too bad it isn't public. I do understand the problem with making it public. Its a more interesting stat for Box. You don't have a choice of who you are playing. There are still ways to rape the system. Min/maxing and etc.

FUMBBL uses a modified ELO system.

Each race you play gives you a different ELO rating. If you beat someone with a higher rating you gain more and they lose the exact same amount. If you be someone with less rating it was "expected" and you go up less and they lose less. It's even possible to gain nothing from a game because the outcome was never in doubt... although this is extremely rare.
I'm not sure how your total coach rating is made, but I suspect it's based on your active teams averaged.
The bash rating is also an ELO rating, although it is less clear how it is measured as a "win" or "loss"...
