All mens LOS is not crazy. As with all things BB it is about the situation.
Now the idea that high ST/AV or all block teams, norse, do well with this plan...ok.
But what about elves. You have 8 blodgers. You opponeet has 1 tackler...why not all Elves LOS. The blocking % is in the elves favor, heavily. So it is not all about AV. It is about blodge VS tackle then.
It is alos a issue that is directly realted to how big are your "stones"...lets face it..some coaches turn white with fear just talking about putting all menz LOS.
Side note: Rookie Dorfs/Norse...shoul ALLWAYS put all mens LOS against rookie teams of any other race...the odds are hevily in their favor in a blocking war.

It's a viable tactic but the effect if different for each race. Amazons all on the line can create havoc with cages by mothering it. Skaven can mark all the opponent's players. Teams with ST4 can get them into uncomfortable positions.
However! Against passing teams this is a bad idea. It's like asking to be insta-scored on. If the opponent can dodge off your full line they can likely blitz past the corner and create a cage on the other side.
This tactic works best in the following situations:
1. Opponent is slower.
2. Opponent can't field as many men as you.
3. Opponent has no AG 4 or can't Pass for other reasons (weather).
4. Opponent has few skills for blocking.
5. Opponent has no frenzy (important because you will get pushed out with all your guys on the line)

Do it with a numbers and strength advantage sure, but otherwise you're setting yourself up to be peeled back like an onion with 10 or more 2d blocks against your team.

Could be fun with a bunch of SS, too. Some DE and HE teams especially could really get penetration into the opposing side this way, particularly if the opponent is low on Tackle.
I may give this a try sometime soon, in a more lulzy mood.

All menz LOS against some rookie teams is tough to deal with.

All mens LOS?
YOU CRAZY FOOL!

I have to try this next time I play my only-longbeards-and-blitzers dwarves. :-)

I just did a AMLOS with a newish Nurgle team. Totally put havoc into his plans. He couldn't set up anything from the start without hurting some players. Now, He had a Underworld team vs a Nurgle, so it was hard regardless. Defensively, it worked out in my favour this time. I do understand that VS an AG team isn't going to be as useful. Its fun trying this, regardless of the results

Against rookie teams, I think the number of RRs on the offense is also a critical thing.
For example, most people think out-blocking your opponent is good.
But what if you're a rookie Nurgle/Slann/Lizards team or (other teams that start with no block)...?
Being able to throw 6-9 blocks a turn sounds good, but with no Block, that will eat your RRs to death in about 3 turns, and no damage skills will leave you with little gain, most likely.

Funny I actually have seen this tactics used quite well by Ros and his Woodies back in the days (4 years ago I believe) - giving the catchers Blodge ss filling the sides - mean while his basic elves and Tree held the middle. His teams died fast though...

blodge ss LOS is risky, but can pay off in situations - worth a risk when u need a fast TD, for example.

But Keggie, Blitz doesn't help if you have all men LOS?
I remember the glory days of having 11 v 10 on LOS when I was playing tt at 13 years old.

Not only rowdys but also tacticals.

no read em0 blod, but rate 1

gary, That is what I am saying. If he doesn't match you on the line, (and not many would) you have advantage. If a blitz comes up, then you are closer to the ball, where ever it may land. A-M-L-O-S put pressure on him defensively to match or cage behind the line. If he does Match you, he wont have players back for the ball. Yes then a Blitz wouldn't work at all, but who matches a A-M-L-O-S anyways? Its crazy. Crazy like a fox, from a defensive bash team. High risk, high reward.
Posted by Rabe on 2013-03-18 23:32:15
A.M.L.O.S. also means that you can't use Kick, which would in fact work VERY well together with that tactic. Are 10 players on the LOS enough, maybe leaving a little hole exactly in the middle?
Posted by keggiemckill on 2013-03-19 00:30:59
That is also a good point I intended to make. Nice pick up on that Rabe. I think kick would work well and have a small whole in the middle where he would stand. A ton of pressure and ball place ment would be a head ache for any coach.

The trick handling an all mens LOS is not to overcomitt. The offensive team still has the first turn and the setup and can decide where he wants to bring the fight. If you have no block it might be the best to just do the bare minimum of blocks. You still can look for a nice spot for yourself, fend attackers off and still have enough players in the back.
Posted by Reisender on 2013-03-19 09:25:10
@neoliminal: so it works best vs the 5 remaining members of an all snotling team :D
Posted by Wreckage on 2013-03-19 10:22:59
If you have agile players it's also worth considering putting them three on one just to make the opposition immobile for blitzes.
Posted by neoliminal on 2013-03-19 14:23:56
Well that worked,
Posted by the_Sage on 2013-03-19 17:09:48
I think this can work very well with anything strong and armored, or overblodging.
To overstrength the opponent at higher TVs (with my lizards) I prefer the in-you-face 3 man LoS:
ST5 blodge guard, ST4 block guard, ST5 block guard stand firm, then the other ST4 blodge guards placed close by to limit assists. Strong opponents will often commit their 5 strongest players/guards to try and knock down the LoS (putting them where I want them and often failing to get the whole wall down), while elves etc usually decide to disconnect from the LoS altogether (in which case they find it very hard to penetrate the sides, which are stacked 2 men deep, relying on the LoS to hold).
Posted by Rabe on 2013-03-19 18:34:22
Of course you opponent can than put a single longbeard with Blodge, Stand Firm, Diving Tackle and AV 10 on the LOS to immobilize all three guys at once if they have no Tackle. ;-D

I got blown up by an Underworld team. Jumpodragon. I lost 3 or 4 players first turn, and then another next. It seems to work only against the lesser minded coaches, of course. ANyone with clout, can demolish a team. Clout and Claw POMBers. :P It was fun while it lasted. I will keep trying it, just Ill be more picky with the situations.
