A
tepid performance by both coach and team sends Pig Sty Alley home with tail firmly tucked between legs.
After being made to wait by my previous opponent and in the end receiving a bye, I was too eager to play and went ahead with the match at an inconvenient time. It's an excuse, but I just didn't prepare myself properly, wasn't particularly fresh, and wasn't focused.
I didn't play to my team's strengths, my cpomber wolf did nothing, all my mighty blow and tackle barely made a dent, and the dark elf opponents enjoyed a relatively flaw free game. When you play that badly that you're reliant on your opponent failing lots, there's not too much to do other than assess what you could have done differently.
In the end, I think I just got over confident. With a cpomber wolf, blodge on several players, plenty of punching power and tackle, and opponents with barely any tackle or leap or even a strip ball, I assumed victory and played as such. Underestimating opponents can be fatal.
Emanukio played well. His tactics were good, a couple of his plays surprised me in their simplicity and effectiveness, and some situations that looked comfortable all of a sudden became quite tricky. I'm not attempting to downplay his efforts at all - he wasn't especially lucky, I just made it pretty easy for him instead of at least forcing an overtime shoot out.
Good coaches are capable of winning with bad dice.
Oh well, the team goes in to the Warpstone lottery but I don't hold out much hope.
