Agreed with everything above, but add
"Not telling the kids that I was petrified, terrified and nearly threw up" and then an hour later also wanting to do it again, but have to wait until the kids want to go on - also priceless.
Alton Towers is one of those "Once or twice a year" trips. If you take your own food, only buy one photo, its just bearable.
But then, queuing for 2 hours for one ride......

Yeah, shoulda added the cost the fasttrack tickets (£12 / 3 rides) albeit we didn't get any.
Everything except the rides costs an arm and a leg. It's a bit of a puss take at times.
One of the reasons to go in October was the reduced queues. Had my kids listened to me (HAHA SOUND FAMILIAR?!) then we would have been able to go on several rides multiple times (e.g. Nemesis was no queue for the first and last hour) and Oblivion no queue at the end. However they insisted on going on Smiler first (1h45min queue... because it's new and near the park entrance) but we got on plenty after that.

Cost of a trip to Alton Towers for being good for a year at a school that calls itself 'a specialist centre for science' to get more funding from the government, but doesn't have to spend a penny on improving science so has a bunch of spare money at the end of the year - £0.
But seriously, the cost of those photo's are ridiculous, and they jack the price of them up even more over summer.

It's just daft. At £2 I'd have spent £10+ on photos (I had the cash). At £8 I ain't getting one unless it was special and none were quite special enough. Having dropped a ton to get in with parking included, I wasn't throwing another £20 at a 4 photo bundle when offered either.
