I lost my
Vampire XFL semi final 2-1 with my heavily induced vamps against Tauro's much more battle hardened side.
Annoyingly... I had the dice to win it. The chef stole 5 of 6 rerolls. He snaked 3 times in the 1st half and more in the 2nd.
Firstly I misused the wizard. Note to self; T1 is a terrible time to use the wizard. A snaked pick up behind the LOS and 5 guys to fireball, I got trigger happy. The problem with T1, as I discovered, was that my players were too spread out whilst the center was congested. In the end, I just couldn't realistically recover the ball.
That wasn't why I lost the game.
I pulled off a 1D POW \o/ (had tackle though) and knocked the ball free T5. This is where I lost the game. Note: I'm blue, +AG on the intercepting thrall, +ST on my target thrall. My vampire passing the ball has pass.
Always have interceptions on the brain when it comes to passing.
I'll forgive myself failing to move the thrall to pass to; as you can see, the interception was not totally obvious. Given the intercepting thrall was +AG, at this point, I should be thinking, "What should I do? Give Tauro the 1/3 chance to steal? No, I should punt." He had no players back field. The vamp marking my passing vamp was only MA4. The punt gives me a lot of options but most importantly puts Tauro on the back foot or worse and would almost certainly stop him scoring.
The interception on the other hand put him in control and left me out of position.
Ask yourself when passing; would you be better off if the ball went to an empty square of your choosing or if it were intercepted? If the answer is the former, punt.
