Flesh Golem Larson first game after FC exit. Nuffle works in mysterious ways!
Somebody said to me I was unlucky as I crashed out of the first round. I felt so too, at the time.
Then I watched the replay of the last few turns. No, it was just bad play. Sure, it was a sequence of bad dice (skull/BD RR skull/BD next turn skull/skull). Like bad dice don't happen at various stages of an entire game! The question is, what happens after bad dice and did you allow for it?
C'mon. An MA10 wolf. Why is he where he is? He should be either 10ish squares from the opposing endzone or 20ish (primed to move to 10ish when the chance is there). I can't believe I only just figured this out. Even worse, this was how I operated in the 1st half of the game, keeping the wolf back but loosely within 2 turns of a TD. Why I changed in OT? Over confidence, perhaps (receiving, 1-0 rerolls, opp's pomb wolf out etc).
So; what's my plan after this zombie block? It can't be to go forward (no blitz left, can't get to within striking distance). The wolf is in no man's land really as alluded to before. "Oh, a 2D block!" No plan plus bad dice equals exposed.
So, yeah, I wasn't unlucky. I was asleep at the wheel and playing on autopilot (a brilliant strategy with hot dice, mind). It's not even that it was a Major game, I would have done the same in a normal game. It was just bad play. I can't help but think a better coach (and there's many here) puts the ball safely back or generally had a better plan to start with (or wouldn't have misused the wizard and had that to fall back on etc).
It was a great game too. I enjoyed it. I was on the receiving end of some heavy hits but <3 regen kept me in it, which always makes for fun. It's a shame I wasn't a bit more switched on at the end as I could have won it.
Live n learn. Roll on the Warpstone! :D
