Now I have got the elfs done and have pics working I can also post about the other projects I'm working on. I like to have a few on the go at once, but usually focus on painting just 1 team at a time unless I get stuck for inspiration.
This is what happened with the Chaos Pact team, I've finished all them aside from the Ogre. I had been a little concerned that the Marauders were looking too clean for Chaos worshipping degenerates so have added deliberately messy numbers and symbols to them.
The main delay with getting this team done was the Ogre. He's quite an involved conversion, but I do like how he's turned out so wanted to get him just right. So I spent quite a bit of time removing any part of his armour that looked too futuristic.
Most of the changes were quite subtle so from the front he looks pretty much the same aside from his head.
The back view shows where I cut out the join in his armour and instead sculpted muscles. I struggled with getting this to look realistic and smooth so they may need to be sanded a bit still. Also I filled in many of the armour gaps and added a couple of chaos style arrows here and there.
I've made progress with the Chaos Dwarf team I am doing for Topper too. Here is the 1st Blocker ready to be painted.
The bull centaurs still need suitable hands and a little greenstuffing.
The hobgoblins on this team are going to be a bit more muscular than you usually see so have bodies from chaos pact marauders. They will get heads and hands from GW ghouls and I'm thinking of giving them dark grey skin rather than the usual green. So they will be more like twisted humanoid slaves than tall goblins.
Finally gregory_n_white has asked me to do a Lizardman team using the
Impact Sacros team. I have broken out the old test model I used for Purplegoo's Lizards and tried a couple of more natural colour schemes.
This is what I am thinking of using for the saurus and skink players, though I went too light in my test. When I do the team for real the skin will be light green but I may fade it to that shade on the belly, whilst the scales will be a much darker green.
This is what I am thinking of using for Slibli by reversing the colours in the scheme above.
The Krox, Hemlock and the 2 Slann stars will be more froggy so I am still working on paint schemes for them, probably similar to those already show but with some areas of bright colours.
The Chaos Dwarfs and Lizardmen are the 1st teams I've repeated, I would eventually like to do all 24 teams and I'm just 5 away from that target. There are a couple of teams I've already done that were pretty much just painting existing models so I'd probably like to re-do some of them as well as the Dwarfs since that team was from over 10 years ago and not up to my standards.
To help me keep track I have made a
Wiki page linking to all my photbucket team albums.
In addition I've only done a fraction of the stars and plenty of them don't even have their own models. So I added a table of all 57 with links to the 15 I have done and links to models I think are possibilities for some of the others.
I'm still struggling with finding models I like for Brick Far'th and Grotty, Count Luthor Von Drackenborg, Crazy Igor
Deeproot Strongbranch, Dolfar Longstride, Fezglitch, Horkon Heartripper, Hubris Rakarth, Humerus Carpal, Icepelt, Hammerblow, Ithaca Benoin, J Earlice, Lottabottol, Morg 'n' Thorg,Quetzal Leap, Rashnak Backstabber, Ripper, Roxanna Darknail, Setekh, Sinnedbad and Soaren Hightower.
