I’ve had confirmation that over 2/3 of the dice have arrived safe and sound. That means it is now time to make the donation to the site.
In total I sold; 40 sets of Black Opaque, 30 sets of Red Pearl and 31 sets of Green Pearl (made a mistake with one order so had to use a spare). I also sent Whatball and Christer the new Green Pearl dice each as gifts, so they have complete sets and also kept a set of red and green pearl for myself. This gives a total of 105 sets, with a donation of £5 per set that comes to £525.
I addition there was a special request to send a single green pearl to a coach who helped me out last year. I charged £4.50 for that single dice with £1.50 going to the site.
This gives a grand total £526.50. Paypal was using an exchange rate of $1.25330773 to the British pound so that made it
$659.87
Below are a sreenshots showing confirmation of the donation going through. Thanks to everyone who purchased a set or just expressed appreciation for the project. It is great that dozens of coaches all round the world have a cool set of Fumbbl dice, hopefully they will roll lots of pows in tabletop leagues and tournaments for you. We also raised a decent lump of cash for the site to say thank you to Christer for all the work he’s done over the years.
I do have a few spares but may need all of those to replace any dice that happen to get lost in the post. In a couple of weeks time I’ll know for sure if I have any spares left. The plan is to sell those on e-bay, the question being which method to use?
I’d want to put at least 1 set of each colour up for auction starting at £0.99 to gauge how popular they were compared to each other and last year. I did this with the 2016 sets and surprisingly the white ones went for silly money. They were the last of those 4 colours to sell out and it was a bit of a shock when they did the best.
I planned things a bit better this time with managing my costs, and have already recouped all the money I spent on the getting the dice made and postage. This means I can split 50/50 with the site any additional profit these make (amounts over the £8 it cost to have them made).
It may well be the case that I have more than 1 set of each colour spare and the question is what do I do with these?
I could put some or all of them up as “buy it now” for £14 (the extra pound is to factor in e-bay charges) and donate £5 of each of those to the site. Alternatively I could auction them all, maybe waiting a couple of weeks between each set to try and maximise profit. It would be nice to beat the donation from last year, but the buy it now option does give those who missed out more of a shot as I can give Fumbbl coaches advance warning.
