As I mentioned in my previous blog the spare dice I sold on e-bay made a profit of £110.85 and split 50/50 between myself and that site that meant £55.43 each. It's been almost 2 months since I posted the last set of dice and noone has contacted which means I can assume they all arrived.
Therefore I am donating Fumbbl's share of the e-bay auctions. Paypal used a conversion rate of $1.21920 to the UK pound which makes the donation $67.58.
I have also been able to complete the Chaos Dwarf team. All models required basing and I went with a wasteland look, using sand and painting that grey with a few patches of coarse grass, on top of that I added white pitch markings. As most of the models are metal I gave them a full coat of varnish, having had bad experiences with sprays and frosting in the past I always use paint on matt varnish. I then added a 2nd coat onto any raised areas and a 3rd on the most vulnerable parts such as horns, spikes, noses and hobgoblin ears. Hopefully this will help the team to stay looking good whilst undergoing the rigours of tabletop gaming.
Below is a pic of the 2 staff members fully completed. The earlier pic missed off some details and this gives a better look at their bases as well.
There was also the turn marker and stunned/prone markers for the mino and bulls. For some reason these have been a real pain to take pics of and they always end up a bit muddy looking. The stunned have turned out ok, but I cant get the prone ones right, especially the Mino.
Purplechest bought a set of the purple pearl dice and asked me to paint them in team colours. I left the skulls white as I'd used a cold grey for the skulls on the actual models, the arrows were painted a mid silver and the stars were painted green. I tried to use a similar technique on these as I had on the models, I couldn't quite match it, but it still had a pleasing effect in addition to standing out.
Finally here is a pic of the full team with all staff, markers and dice.
I generally prefer to make unique teams, converting all players from other models. This team had a few minor conversions, but was mostly using the Gaspez Arts Bull Warriors. Luckily they are a really nice range and were fun to paint. To avoid boredom I pushed myself to experiment with new techniques, the metals all had a lot of normal paints mixed in with shading and highlights. This worked really well on the gold and decently on the silver. I am really pleased with how the extreme highlights worked with the green on this team. It is difficult to match purple, green and the different skin tones without clashing too much. However the extreme dark green to yellow used in moderation worked really well. I may well use this technique again and it would work with other colours like red or blue.
