A few years back I wrote a few articles for the NAF site about converting. At the time I'd also written another article on choosing colour schemes, but never had the free time to paint some special models to illustrate certain points I wanted to make.
With a new version of Blood Bowl coming out soon along with several brand new teams already added this year with more to follow I finally had both the time and motivation to finish it.
Painting Tips
Blood Bowl models are not that different from other fantasy or sci-fi ones, so painting techniques are largely the same. What I cover in this is ideas for picking colour schemes that will look good with simple painting to tabletop standard.
I painted these beastmen to illustrate the difference between basic and more detailed painting.
These orcs show how a simple colour scheme can look better than an overloaded model painted to a higher standard.

I've also had time to build a couple more of the BB2016 star players.
Gobbler Grimlich, is someone that I've been working on for quite a while and went through multiple different parts over the past few months, it was really hard to get his face and pose right.
The feet are from Orruk Brutes, the legs from a chaos spawn, the loincloths from Putrid Blightkings, his torso is from an Ogryn and the arms are BB Ogres. The hands and face are from pink horrors and the shoulder pad along with thigh guards from Chaos Chosen with the tongue from a chameleon skink. A fair bit of greenstuff was used to sculpt his throat, ears and nose along with filling gaps.
I hadn't intended to make Bo Gallanté for a while as there was not much to go on and High Elves aren't even in the new rules. But when looking through the Death zone book I got inspiration.
The model itself mostly uses the plastic Elf Union players, I choose the most dynamic pose I could for him and the smuggest face. His armour only needed a few tweaks, adding a border to some armour pieces and sanding the shoulder pad to fit both sides of him. I didn't have any pics of his legs and didn't want to use the standard Elf Union faces since he was a high elf. Luckily I had some high elf bits leftover from an old conversion and was able to make a cast of the Skycutter elf hero shin guards.
His hair was the trickiest part to get right, trying to find a source that would give the appearance of movement, but still be beautifully well kept. After looking at the banshee and various other elves I settled in the front parts from a tree-revenant with the back from a Khinerai Lifetaker, plus some greenstuff to fill the gaps.
