I have finished the 1st Saurus and Skink. Developing the colour scheme and painting techniques i will use on the team is always of the the tricjiest parts. A well thought out model painted to tabletop standard can look better than a master painted model with a really ugly colour scheme on the table.
It took a while the get the scales, skin and bronze looking correct for the saurus in fact i had to buy a new paint for the skin. I am really please with how his horns turned out as well.
The skink was really easy to paint, there was no conversion work on him and a limited palette so he was pretty simple. His skin is slightly lighter than the saurus and the Krox's will be darker still. I have tried to make his decorations and armour look a bit newer as well as saurus can live a long time whilst skinks die easily.
The obvservant of you will notice the models are not actually finished and still need bases. below is my test base, i'm going for a swampy look with some ruins as well. I will probably add a few white pitch lines but less than normal so it looks truly ancient.
I still need to finish converting the Krox, his arms need greenstuff and some extra decorations, the skink star needs a bit of work too. At the moment he still looks too fantasy so i'll be swapping his sword for a knife and adding some shoulder pads and decorations.
The remaining saurus and skinks shouldn't take too long then i can spend more time on the Krox (looooove painting big guys) and the 2 stars.
Have done a bit of re-jigging of the Blogs to make em a bit easier to follow, but still need to combine the Orc and Nurgle ones and get round to making some woodie player pics.
My latest project is a Lizardman team for Purplegoo.
The skinks will be standard BB skinks as they are actually pretty nice models, but the rest will be conversions from Fantasy.
This guy is going to be converted into Hemlock a LRB5 star player, have bought the model but done nothing to him yet.
Kroxigor
I wasn't happy with the Krox's arms to have removed them and swapped in some from a plastic Rat Ogre with a spiked fist and loin cloth from Ogres. He's just held together with blu tack at the moment as am not 100% content with the position of the right arm. With both arms down he looks quite bone-headed but a little static. I will add some greenstuff scales and decorations from the temple guard to make him a bit more interesting too.
Saurus
These are made of the plastic temple guard with loin cloths from dire avengers and shoulder pads from Ork boyz with spikes from the chaos spawn. I have used the
Cyanide Lizardmen as inspiration so you see their game is good for something.
Am keeping the colour scheme I experimented with before with red scales bronze armour and bone skin . Still not decided what colour to do the loin cloth and shoulder pads, either something that stands out like blue or black or maybe to match the rest of the model such as red and white.
SilliBilli
He is the temple guard champion with different shoulder pads and loin cloth as well as some extra decoartions to make him stand out. Am thinking of making him an albino and Hemlock too so they will stand out but still fit the team. Purp can use them as skilled players if he's taking them to a tourney with no stars as well.
I also have these
Glyphs that i am using for base decorations but been thinking the larger ones could work as RR, turn and score markers.
All models (C) GW and are painted by Ross Leckie
