I have already shown the most of the team which he needed for a tournament and the Mino (which is my favourite) so the last 2 models were a hobgoblin and Httark. Had i more time I'd probably have converted the 2nd Httark to make him more different so i made the star a slightly different colour scheme and had him rearing up.
Just a quick entry really, I realised I had not shown much painting since I put pics up of the models I'd done for Qaz to take to a TT tournament.
The last Hobgoblin is almost but he looks pretty much like the other 4. However as I love painting big guys so much i concentrated more time on the Mino, I am pretty happy with his beard as hair is one of the few things i feel i can sculpt pretty well.
His colour scheme has been kept similar to the rest of the team and i was able to do a subtler blending of black to red on the armour as well. I went for a ruddy brown skin tone to suggest he could have been a dwarf many years ago and kept the hairy body even though it seems a bit odd that the hair is all in the recesses of his torso and legs.
Annoyingly the back picture turned out better, I intend to take a better front one before i post him off. It does show the skin better though.
Bit of a change from my normal painting blogs this one as the team is almost fully finished.
I've been working on a Chaos Dwarf team for Qaz for the past few months, he wanted to use them in a tournament on 22-23 May so I have concentrated on the models he needs for that tournament and got them finished 1st.
I still need to complete the Minotaur, Httark and a Hobgoblin or 2 and intend to convert the mino and Httark a little bit to make them stand out as well as spending extra time painting them.
The team is influenced by Qaz's 6 Hooves Under, but the test model using their colours of brown, black and gold didn't really work so I added some red and on Qaz's suggestion gave red edging to the armour which worked out really well especially on the shoulder pads.
The bases are mostly rock with grass patches to represent the desolate lands Chaos Dwarfs live in. I hope to add a little more detail to the 2 stars bases as i had to rush these a little and there is no extra bits of armour or dead opponents i normally add to violent teams.
My fave model is the blonde bull, it's just a simple hat swap with the other one but the beard really contrasts well with the grey body and dark armour. Will have to try extra hard to top him when i come to do httark but might swap some of the colours as that worked well for Purp's star player lizardmen.
Well I managed to get enough models done for Qaz to take to his TT tournament so now it's time to concentrate on the remaining team members. I still need to finish painting the 5th Hobgoblin, but he will be much like the rest.
I have already used Htthark as one of the normal bulls with a hat swap so have gone for a converted pose with him rearing up on his hide legs. He will also get a different colour scheme, i think i'll use the same colours as the rest of the team but reverse them since that worked really well for the Lizardmen.
Probably my favourite thing to paint is BloodBowl Big guys the newest Minotaur is actually a pretty nice model but i couldn't leave as he is. To fit him in with the rest of the team i gave him a beard and moustache to match the Dwarfs.
